It’s a Bart extension in San Jose, not her district so why is she bemoaning San Francisco’s drop in usage of the local bus and rail cars? It’s an unemployment thing. Fund unemployment, not the trains

It probably is at least partly covid related. They told everyone to shelter in place and social distance. Tech companies have huge staff numbers working remotely. But by this logic you can justify anything. My industry has been very severely harmed by covid shutdowns and even as we re-open it is unlikely to return to 2019 numbers until 2022. I’m barely hanging on, frankly. I did find some new opportunities and did a little consulting work on the side, and am now looking for other new opportunities.

I got a PPP loan that covered 2.5 months of payroll, a portion of which could cover rent - to service an industry that has been almost entirely shut down for 12 months and counting. They should give me a million bucks by Pelosi’s logic.

And FWIW, most of my employees had to be let go, because there was very little work... and in any case they didn’t want to come back to work they were making close to $25/hour (state and federal) not to be on the payroll. I literally hired extended family and old friends to do office work to expense the PPP money. Totally ridiculous every way I look at it but I believe I had no choice.

In retrospect I should’ve signed the wife and myself up for the UI benefits. Would’ve been something like $7000 a month, combined. Of course, I was being principled but not so sure that was the best “self-interest” decision. Sorry for bitching.
