Gov. Gavin Newsom has reportedly reached a deal with state lawmakers that is aimed at getting most public school children back in their classrooms by the end of March.
The deal does not require schools to open but provides financial incentives of up to $6.6 billion for school districts that are able to reopen by Mar. 31.
To get the money, districts must return to in-person instruction at least through second grade, and in counties with lower case numbers, districts must return to in-person instruction for all elementary school grades, plus one grade each in middle and high school.

They’re just pulling this nonsense out of their backsides.
I don’t understand. I thought the teachers were only worried about their own personal health and that’s why they dumped on all the school kids’ education in classrooms. Now money will make it safer? Or just money makes the districts richer? Now the teachers will have to fight to extort their share of the money from the administrators. A tug of war. Kids’ education? “Huh?”
