Reparations had been debated for decades prior to this past summer, without any results.

And that’s the idea. The political class sews racial division. Promises something later and collects taxpayer money now for their favored NGOs to “study” the problem. The NGOs get rich and the politicians have their perpetual action item to dangle in front of low-info voters who seem to forget from election to election that everything is promised and nothing meaningful, like actual job opportunities, is ever delivered.

I'd like to close this slippery argument. If I was in charge, I'd use a light meter (to skin) to determine the threshold for payment, then award stocks, not to be paid out until eligible for Social Security. Corporations and recipient receive investment.

Recipient-citizen is firmly "vested" in America--encouraging votes for industry and the economy. Reparation-talk fades away.
