Mark Levin's interview with Governor Ron DeSantis on Sunday night struck me as so sane, so normal, that it almost had me weeping. Just when I'd despaired that common sense has flown the coop completely, they held a conversation where questions asked are answered honestly, without any [conniving/dissembling].
A lot of the interview was about Florida's response to COVID. You could almost hear Levin's incredulity that DeSantis had grabbed the data offered to him at the beginning of the pandemic, analyzed it himself, and then made decisions for the state that bucked the common consensus. Florida has, in essence, been open all along.
Yes, a few businesses initially, but that was because the businesses themselves decided to do so. Schools have been open, sports have been played, and they have fared no worse — in some ways, far better — than the states that closed. They haven't had an epidemic of suicides and depression. Florida has not had massive problems with other diseases being ignored in favor of COVID. Nor did Florida have worse case counts of COVID than other, closed states.
*snip*
Imagine not having the teachers' unions in charge! They sued the state and lost. Too bad the information on how Florida beat them isn't more widely known. They have been forced to teach, in person, in school. No Zoom sessions needed. I guess parents can opt out, but DeSantis said most have kept their kids in school. Florida hasn't had a problem with COVID in the schools. That's not a surprise!
DeSantis a native Floridian, played baseball at Yale, and attended Harvard Law, and, unlike so many, it seems he took his education seriously and learned some useful things. He's also a Navy officer. Clearly, he's ruled his state far more wisely than many other governors.

Two good men.
I’m on the watch with this man.
I’ll be asking my best friend about it. She moved to FL several years back and her son was going to high school this Fall unfettered. Haven’t been able to catch up with her lately but am very curious how she sees it all. She has turned conservative and even believed God would somehow take care of all this horribleness.
What a pleasure it was to watch an hour of sane, common sense thinking on display. To think DeSantis just barely won. The rats came very close to stealing that race.
“The rats came very close to stealing that race.”
You’re not kidding.
We love him!!!!
He was a JAG Officer for the SEALS, and is tough, smart, and not a natural nor career politician. Founding member of the House Freedom Caucus. And several covid fearmongers sure trashed him here for not locking down the state.
You’re right about him just barely winning. It just shows how hard it is to keep ahead. Gillum just barely losing is proof there is no racism in this country. Just think-a whacko being taken that serious. Might tell us more about the voters.
Florida’s roll out of the vaccine has also been close to the best in the nation. Meanwhile media darling Andy Beshear (D) in Kentucky has had nearly the worst.
Terry Paulding needs to understand the person ‘polls’ said would win (against DeSantis) was a black drug addict with a white homosexual lover - used to trick the public AND his wife into ‘he’s responsible’...
Florida came close to having a democrat thug pity-party jerk with ZERO experience (other than being mayor of Tallahassee - a small Florida city)...
Andrew Gillum would have been a thousand times worse than Gavin Newsom... we dodged a bullet. If enough nutty liberals move to Florida we’ll have hell on earth here too. The battle against democrat horrors running our states and cities into the ground matters.
We spend our winters in Florida and got our first covid vaccine 2 weeks ago. The process was flawless. I called the Broward hotline on a Friday afternoon and in less than 2 hours I got a call back offering an appointment the following Monday.
When we went for our shots, we were in and out in half an hour and that included 15 minutes of wait time after the shot. We don’t know anyone in our age group that hasn’t had at least one shot.
At home in MA. I’m certain we would still be waiting.
