On a summer evening inside Suburban Station in 2019, a transit police officer’s gun went off.
It was a Sig Sauer P320, a model that SEPTA police started using in 2016 but that had also given rise to reports of misfires and lawsuits claiming the weapon was defective.
Officer Craig Jacklyn’s Sig Sauer P320 was in its holster. His hands were not on the weapon when it fired, he says, and authorities would later conclude the gun discharged through no fault of his own.

Yeah, I own a Sig P320C-RX and I love it. Not once has it fired witho
Interesting I have been looking at the M17 which I think is based off the 320’model. Looks like a great carry gun.
Does the p365 have the samebissues?
Also, it is extremely hard for a semi-auto pistol to fire if there is NOT a round in the chamber.
Personally, I hate the SIG trigger. It’s like drive by wire in a car. No feel to it.
I have the older P320FS RX and the newer P320C RX.
No problems with either after over 5000 rds. between the 2.
I've had the Factory upgrade in the older unit, upgraded triggers in both, swapped FCUs between them.
Never dropped either, no problems with either.
Carry IWB at 5:00
I don’t know about the ‘firing without a trigger being pulled whilst in the holster,’ but the ‘firing if dropped from a certain angle’ has been proved with several YouTube videos showing it. I really hope there’s no other issue with the P320 because it’s a great firearm otherwise. Getting one in a month or so God willing, an X-Five Legion, but I will only use it for IDPA. For carry I’ll stick to my Glock 17.
Had a friend who shot himself in the leg holstering a sig 365. Holster had a thumb strap. Trigger caught a the long longer side of the thumb strap going in. Just missed the femoral artery.

Imagine if you will the Sig P320 just jumping up and firing one off. 😕
I have not heard of similar issues with the P365.
Sig had a recall. I wonder how many of these incidents are pre-recall triggers.
And that had to do with a trigger issue that caused the gun to fire if dropped and landing a certain way. The problem had nothing to do with the gun firing spontaneously. Sig issued a notice to owners that the issue was addressed and modified the trigger accordingly. I do own this model and the P365, as well.
The part that I found amusing was:
Sitting behind the wheel of a motorized cart...
“And that had to do with a trigger issue that caused the gun to fire if dropped and landing a certain way. The problem had nothing to do with the gun firing spontaneously.”
Huh? Trigger, sear? Do you not know how guns work?
So you advocate carrying with an empty chamber?
Hey, I loved the Sears catalog.
And National Geographic!
