Boston Public Schools officials said that a program with advanced learning classes would be cancelled over concerns that the classes served disproportionate racial groups.
The program known as Advanced Work Classes was intended to serve high-performing students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grade. Students are encouraged to study their subjects in a deeper and non-traditional manner.
School officials became concerned when a report showed that the program was disproportionately serving white students, and underserving black and Hispanic students.
The district analysis found that more than 70% of the students in the program were white or Asian, while nearly 80% of the students in the district are Hispanic or black.
"This is just not acceptable," said School Committee member Lorna Rivera in a school meeting in January. "I've never heard these statistics before, and I'm very very disturbed by them."

Superintendent Brenda Cassellius told WGBH News on Friday that they would put the program on hiatus over the racial findings.
"There's been a lot of inequities that have been brought to the light in the pandemic that we have to address," Cassellius said. "There's a lot of work we have to do in the district to be antiracist and have policies where all of our students have a fair shot at an equitable and excellent education."
Students would be eligible in the program if they scored high on a test in third grade. Of those, participants were chosen by lottery.

I suppose she will also want to get rid of the remedial classes as well because the blacks are heavily overrepresented in those classes. The stupidity of liberals knows no bounds.
Now, why would they lump in Asians with whites in this instance?
Remember when feminists demanded female sports get equal money from schools and colleges the same as males? Despite college football and basketball generating millions a year in income and donations while females sports lost money.
The solutions ended up being cutting down funding for high school and some college male sports (non football and basketball). That way, everyone lost down to the same amount and all fell to a lower funding level.
Equal.

Teachers and schools are rapidly becoming worthless as learning centers.
They are simply babysitting and free food services
It didnt attract obama kids because there were no subjects in “advanced classes” like how to properly play the polar bear game or how to blame whitey for everything and get a grant out of it..
I was sent to the local community college because my high school did not have the college prep courses I needed for engineering.
Parents of the advanced students should consider petitioning the school district for similar or pay their way.
...or try to get the policy changed back in confrontational PTA/School Board meetings. Get in their face.
The public schools around the NEA have been dying down American education since 1913. This is just the latest phase of it.
It's not possible to make everyone equally stupid. But, you can try to make them more equally ignorant!

Feelings about the math answers will count as 70% from now on for final exams.
Since the public schools are ‘free’, why are people complaining? If crap like this REALLY bothered people, they’d demand an end to the public school monopoly, or at least not subject their kids to them (like 75% of FReepers do, for that matter).
What about the smart minorities?
