Tom Cotton Mocks Social Justice Warriors at New York Times in CPAC Speech

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Friday mocked “social justice warriors” at the New York Times and their “meltdown” this summer over his op-ed in the paper calling for troops to restore order during the rioting at the time.

Speaking on the first day of the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida, Cotton recalled how hundreds of Times staffers were so upset their paper had published his op-ed that they forced an editor to step down. He said:

So I wrote an op-ed in the New York Times. It had a very simple message, a very common-sense message, grounded in American history and law supported by a majority of Americans, arguing: if the police cannot or especially if they are not allowed to restore order, then it is time to send in the troops.

What happened next? Total meltdown, of the little social justice warriors at the New York Times. All these children that have been marinated in the language of the campus seminar room, they said things like, ‘your words put my life at risk!’ As if typing on their phones sitting on their futons was as dangerous as being a cop trying to stop rioters in the streets! Or, ‘your words are violence!’

I’m sorry kiddo, words are words, violence is what your friends are doing on the streets of America…..My work didn’t meet their standards, it far exceeded their normally lousy standards.

He also criticized liberals’ attempts to tear America’s system down, saying it did not matter what they called it and that they just wanted to destroy it.

“When the mobs are tearing down statues of Lincoln and Grant, it’s not about the Civil War or racism: it’s because they hate America,” he said,

These are the same crybabies who think that slavery started in the American colonies. If I were still raising kids these days I would home school them to keep the teacher’s union from turning their brains to mush.

Right after the fraudulent election results were coming out, Tom Cotton was one of the first to go on record saying we should accept the results in the spirit of democracy, or some sort of nonsense. I was shocked, but made a promise to myself that I would NEVER trust this man again. He knows what to say, and how to say it, but do not be fooled by this man. He is the swamp.

I don’t think we are going to have teachers or public schools anymore. We are over the cliff.

Cotton is angling for the Presidential nomination in 2024. He’s been to New Hampshire already. He reminds me of John Kerry.

“Cotton is angling for the Presidential nomination in 2024. He’s been to New Hampshire already”

Yep. The sad reality is that a lot of these clowns said what they said and did what they did because they saw Trump losing in 2020 as beneficial to their own presidential aspirations. Is it easier for Tom Cotton to run in 2024 with Trump gone? Hell yes. If Trump were in his 2nd term now, what sort of path is there for a Tom Cotton to the White House? In no sense would he have been the heir apparent. Pence as a current VP would have had a leg up, just as previous current or recent-past VPs always do (e.g., Biden this time, Gore in 2000, Bush 41 in ‘88, Mondale in ‘84, Nixon in ‘60, etc.). Also, whoever was to be the ‘24 nominee would be facing long odds of trying to win a 3rd consecutive GOP term. And that’s tough to do. Since the FDR/Truman era, only Bush ‘88 has been able to pull that off.

So, yeah, Tom Cotton likely saw Trump’s exit as to a stroke of good fortune for himself. With that said, I just don’t see it. No one likes such a naked opportunist. He’s not now nor is he ever going to be someone who excites the base. That was also true of McCain & Romney, and somehow they pulled off getting the nomination, but I think both of those guys, as much as I dislike(d) them, had more in the way of political skill than Cotton.

Not interested in Tom Cotton.

Just another go-along to get-along Republican.

We will still have public schooling, but it will be 100% remote or part time only at best. And fewer kids enrolled. 24 states now have school choice bills now under consideration. Let the $$ follow students and not systems.

I live in Arkansas now and I totally agree. For a long while, I thought he was one of the “good” Republican senators.

Now I wouldn’t give him the time of day.

Cotton was near the top of my list for GOP senators I like and respect.

His comments following the election theft destroyed that for me. I am no longer interested in supporting his aspirations for higher office because he cannot be trusted to do the right thing at crucial times.

Tom Cotton: Trump should accept election results, ‘quit misleading American people’

by Scott CarrollWednesday, January 6th 2021
https://katv.com/news/local/tom-cotton-trump-should-accept-election-results-quit-misleading-american-people

U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas on Wednesday called on President Donald Trump to accept the results of the presidential election and “quit misleading the American people.”

His statement comes after mobs of armed Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and interrupted an Electoral College vote to confirm Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. One person was killed as rioters clashed with Capitol Police. Cotton and other lawmakers, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, called it an insurrection.

“Those who attacked the Capitol today should face the full extent of federal law,” Cotton said.

He continued: “It’s past time for the president to accept the results of the election, quit misleading the American people, and repudiate mob violence. And the senators and representatives who fanned the flames by encouraging the president and leading their supporters to believe that their objections could reverse the election results should withdraw those objections. In any event, the Congress will complete its constitutional responsibilities tonight.”

The violence came as a group of Republican senators, excluding Cotton, tried to undo the election results by objecting to the electoral vote. Those lawmakers, led by Texas’ Ted Cruz and Missouri’s Josh Hawley, based their objections on unproven claims of widespread voter fraud.

Trump repeated baseless claims of election fraud and urged his supporters to “fight” the results during a rally in Washington, D.C. before the violence began.

Despite Trump’s claims of voter fraud, state officials have insisted the elections ran smoothly and there was no evidence of fraud or other problems that would change the outcome. The states have certified their results as fair and valid.

Of the more than 50 lawsuits the president and his allies have filed challenging election results, nearly all have been dismissed or dropped. He’s also lost twice at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Twitter locked Trump’s account and deleted some of his tweets Wednesday evening after he continued to spread false claims of election fraud and called rioters at the Capitol “special” and told his supporters to “remember this day forever.”

Tom Cotton’s statement in support of The Left, the Supreme Court, the judiciary, Marxist/Socialist Democrats, Marxist/Socialist media, Biden, Pelosi, Schumer and his fellow RINO’s right after they CLEARLY stole the 2020 election forever put a Tattoo on Cotton’s head that he can’t be trusted. He’s sort of a male Nikki Haley.

Nothing is more important that honest elections and Tom Cotton doesn’t “get it”.

Sad to see Cotton not booed off the stage at CPAC. He is Chinamart funded bad news yet apparently many loving eyes will never see.

Tom Cotton sat for 4 years on the highly corrupt Senate intel committee. That committee is the bottom of the beltway sewer. And he didn’t say a word while coupist attacks swirled all around him. He’s always been a conservative fraud. Although, he does write some nice letters.
