Tiger Woods, in a one-car accident, flipped his vehicle and suffered, according to Dr. Anish Mahajan, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, “comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula” of his right leg. The leg was stabilized by a rod in the tibia and screws and pins in the foot and ankle.
To give you an idea of what Tiger will need to do, I will tell you my journey. I am not a doctor, and I know it is anecdotal, but I put a lot of time into learning about this type of injury.
On 8/29/07 I was crushed against a garage wall by a tractor-trailer. I had many injuries, but the most evident to onlookers (aside from my vomiting from the effects of the concussion for a year) was the comminuted open fracture of my hand. The doctors advised amputation, which I refused.
The doctor in the emergency room, Keshav Magge (coincidentally a hand plastic surgeon -- God loves me) spent 10 hours taking out and putting in stitches to use what skin and flesh was left to close and cover as much of what remained of my hand as possible so they could do surgery (to put in three pins) in the next few days.
He did not get up to eat or to go to the bathroom. He put in and removed, and put in again, hundreds of stitches, over and over, for the entire day. He has pictures.

I have no specific dislike for Tiger Woods...none whatsoever.
And BTW...I love Top Gear. The *real* Top Gear that is,not the farce that's on now.
It’s a good thing he was close to Harbor UCLA. Had he been in a small town he likely would have had to be air lifted to a trauma center potentially hours away.
Long road ahead for him.
Thanks. I was harsher than I should been in my earlier response and I apologize.
Unfortunately I am unable to throw stones at anyone for speeding. Lots of speeding.
(Thankfully, here in Texas if you can keep the number under 10 during any three year period, for $450 my lawyer takes care of them - and smiles all the way to the bank.)
Don’t worry about it. I’m often bad at clearly expressing myself.I sometimes fear that I’m suffering from Plugs Biden Syndrome...minus the molesting of young girls!
Years ago my best friend's Dad,who was a *real* rocket scientist, had a top job at a defense contractor that designed missiles for the DoD. As a result he spent a lot of time in Nevada...which was where they often tested them. He'd tell us stories about the roads out there with no speed limits. They were thrilling to a young kid like me.
The SUV was part of a loaner fleet to their Genesis Invitational tournament -- they took over the Riviera early-season tourney from Northern Trust, which moved their venue to Liberty National.
One story said he was staying at, and thus driving from Palos Verdes -- they meant Terranea, which is practically its own mini town -- but it's odd that he would have been down there given he had been interviewed by Jim Nance just 2 days before at Riviera, which is kind of a long-ass haul up the 110-405.
Then TMZ had a story that some Hollyweird producer said Tiger nearly hit his car leaving Terranea that morning, and they also had road video of him driving moderately fast up Hawthorne trailing a blue van.
What's interesting is, that is a brand-new 2021 GV80 and yet that back tire doesn't look like it has a dime's worth of tread.
BTW, I've done a 180, maybe make that 170, on Tiger this past decade. Yeah he's a headcase, but he and Elin have a workable post-divorce that has produced 2 nice kids. He met Obama but Trump gave him the Medal of Freedom, and it's not hard to imagine he voted Trump over Cankles.
Now that he is almost surely no threat to Jack's 18 majors with 15, it's easier to wish him well and get back on course.

Journey and prognosis
Unknown until or if further information is released or kept confidential.
ORIF rod/nailing we don’t even know this vs external fixation. And also have not heard any release of the Grade Type.
Would be interested in knowing the Grade Type.
