Republicans are really mad about BART getting $112 million in COVID-19 stimulus bill

The House version of Biden administration's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill contains funding for BART's planned expansion into San Jose and Santa Clara — and congressional Republicans are not happy about it.

An analysis from Fox Business found that the expansion — long-planned but lacking funding — will be receiving $112 million in federal funds, and transportation officials told the San Francisco Chronicle the figure would actually be closer to $141 million.

Twitter accounts for House and Senate Republicans began referring to the project as "Pelosi's Subway" in tweets railing against the legislation.

"The Democrats’ $1.9 trillion spending bill is a pork-laden goody bag masquerading as covid relief," wrote Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas with a link to the Fox Business article. "The American people should know the ingredients of this snake oil."

Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn tweeted an image of some the bill's provisions printed on a receipt, with "Pelosi's Subway" incurring a cost of $112 million.

BART will also be receiving $77 million to expand the Transbay Tube’s capacity, and the bill contains a total of $30 billion for transit agencies across the country.

Democrats have argued that the public transit funding is directly tied to the pandemic because low levels of ridership have placed agencies in financial peril and in need of federal relief.

Wouldn’t pushing blacks towards farming be racist?

Perhaps if those Republicans hadn’t supported the ELECTION FRAUD of the Democrats (you know, to get rid of Trump), they wouldn’t have a president throwing away the country’s future like this.

Its 1.9 TRILLION, people.
Very little of it helps any of you.
Its a massive bailout of dumblecrat areas for things they caused like low ridership and lower tax revenues because they shut down businesses.

My disgust for these aholes knows no bounds.

Disgust is not the correct word for me. It is hatred for these people. They are doing this in your face spending with a two fold end: ruin the country by killing the dollar while elevating their crap filled base into an overlord position.

BART is one thing but the billions they send on the DC Metro pales by comparison. However, the billion set aside for black farmers?? There was some program a decade ago for some give away over financing costs or some such. My family used to have a small farm which was a subsistence farm selling some overage for things they needed. I never heard of the gov coming in this is something figuratively like keeping them on the plantation. Irony at its best.

IMO the country is beyond saving now. As it slips under the waves, my advice is make sure you have a life boat and a means to protect yourself and family. Over the last 55 or so years, we have been slipping only to gain a bit back from time to time only to slip back again further again. Now we are in free fall with no stops available. We have a bubble brain at the helm getting directions from a bunch of pseudo commies filling in the space in his synapses to over run his senseless utterings. The capitol is surrounded by the military underpinned by a charade voting system, a system so bad that the head of government was elected without uttering more than a sentence or two during the “election”. Citizenship has been reduced to second class status. Given states cannot secede, their citizens are now the equal of surfs. The end.

Yeah “disgust” is too mild for me also.
Seething burning hatred is more like it.

But the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet.

I also hate the folks who regularly vote for this nonsense. our “fellow” citizens.

I suspect I know the eventual answer and it won’t be pretty. I hope I am still up for it.

It is a bit astonishing.

I heard people saying “Oh, come on. If the Democrats get control, they won’t destroy the country...”

Well.

One thing I do fault President Trump on was not doing anything towards reducing Federal Budgets (although I fully appreciated the effect on debt that the improved economy under him could accomplish towards reducing the rate of the increase of debt) but you get these people in power, and it is like they are drinking a gallon of economy destroying expresso and loading our economy onto nitro-fueled budget-busting nitro-fueled dragsters to take off for the economic precipice.

Just like that.

Just over a month with their verminous rat-claws on the levers of power, and Two Trillion dollars of useless money being thrown down the sh**hole. The future of our country. Think of what they will do when fully entrenched, with the willing help of the Republican party. (The resistance we see to much of this on their part is simply window dressing, IMO.)

I too have a burning anger towards those doing this.

“planned expansion into San Jose and Santa Clara”

Shouldn’t it be “into Santa Clara and San Jose”.

The internet and remote working might make this expansion and commuter travel expansions unnecessary. Also there’s that exit going on from Silicon Valley.

The sneering article is actually annoyed that a "news outlet" told on them, as if they could have snuck it through unchallenged if all news outlets would have kept quiet like they're supposed to.

Only "congressional Republicans" and stupid Fox object.
