Q: Do you think plant-based and lab-grown meats could be the full solution to the protein problem globally, even in poor nations? Or do you think it’s going to be some fraction because of the things you’re talking about, the cultural love of a hamburger and the way livestock is so central to economies around the world?
A: For Africa and other poor countries, we’ll have to use animal genetics to dramatically raise the amount of beef per emissions for them. Weirdly, the US livestock, because they’re so productive, the emissions per pound of beef are dramatically less than emissions per pound in Africa. And as part of the [Bill and Melinda Gates] Foundation’s work, we’re taking the benefit of the African livestock, which means they can survive in heat, and crossing in the monstrous productivity both on the meat side and the milk side of the elite US beef lines.
So no, I don’t think the poorest 80 countries will be eating synthetic meat. I do think all rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef. You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.
So for meat in the middle-income-and-above countries, I do think it’s possible. But it’s one of those ones where, wow, you have to track it every year and see, and the politics [are challenging]. There are all these bills that say it’s got to be called, basically, lab garbage to be sold. They don’t want us to use the beef label.

It was Ma Chalmers and her Soybeans.
Now it’s Bill and his Beefless Beef.
How right she was.
The very same people hollering "organic" and "natural" want us to eat an artificial meat-like substance produced in factories. Is that insane?! How is factory food anywhere "natural" or "organic" ?

If you ever read “War and Peace”, Gates appears to be the reincarnation of the wealthy, well meaning, inherently foolish Pierre who struggles through life in a perpetual agitated depression.
Pretty much, I read whatever our would-be masters say and think, YCKMA. (You can kiss...)
I don’t want frankenfoods.
Bill Gates eats beef burgers
Over the last few years, Gates has been quietly buying up thousands of acres of US farmland. Don’t be surprised if he takes cattle land and decides to stop raising cattle on it.
To “save the environment.”
He’s an out of tough nut.
Eat this, Gates.
Out of touch too!
Makes perfect sense. Gates buys all the land after no more need for cattle. Sells land to Chinese, they make the fake beef for us (poison us, just a little bit (said with strong Chinese accent)).
If I had no other guiding principles in life, I would just do the opposite of what Gates says.
He can spend his own money and feed the starving in Africa.
At least those he didnt kill with his vaccine experiments.
You have just described every Democrat, except sociopathy needs to be added to their condition. Their perpetual agitated depression. Is because they are always looking for the answer as to why they can’t feel emotions. So they fake it and pretend they care.
The real issue of the story is not synthetic beef, it is Gates desire to manipulate the masses, to change peoples behavior. In typical elitist fashion, Gates sees people as cattle, to be bred, used, herded and culled, in whatever manner favors the masters.
MYOB, ya wanker.
Why should the rich nations do it?
What’s the logic behind just the rich nations?, why not have the poor nations eat it?.
Since they are poor and dont have the infrastructure to support ranching, give them the plant steaks and leave my brisket alone you twisted freak.

“it is Gates desire to manipulate the masses, to change peoples behavior.”
Hubby read an article this week — in Breitbart, I think — that said Gates is the behind-the-scenes Master Puppeteer for the current administration.
Love that movie.
The spoon with strawberry jam.....
The reason 88% of people in this country have at least one symptom of Metabolic Syndrome is processed food. Synthetic beef is processed food. Nutrient dense, REAL food, especially from ruminent animals, sans the processed crap, eliminates a lot of health issues ... including Type 2 Diabetes, which is reversible. T2D is EPIDEMIC in this country & the world today. Also, those suffering from Metabolic Syndrome are at higher risk for a more severe course of COVID, even death. What are the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome? For starters, obesity, high BP, T2D, heart disease - know anybody with any of these issues? Metabolic health can be improved in just a few weeks. The COVID vaccine is not the “be all, end all” - many if not most of those vaccinated will still have metabolic issues, putting them at risk for lots of bad outcomes. Big Food/Big Pharma continue to lie about everything - no money for them in better health.
Also, regenerative farming (not big food mono-crop agriculture , not eliminating fossil fuels) is the way to do something productive about “climate change”. BTW, cow farts do NOT worsen climate change. If on pasture, there is a cycle that occurs & the gasses Bill is so worried about end up back in the soil, not in the atmosphere. I highly recommend the movie “Kiss the Ground” to see how this works. Many ruined (by man) areas of this earth can be returned to a virtual Eden.
Bill’s warped thinking is VERY dangerous - he wants to eliminate the most nutrient dense food we have, worsen health, make lots of $$. He needs to be fought every step of the way on this. BTW, full disclosure, I am about 95% carnivore - reversed pre-T2D & lost 70 lbs - feel the best I’ve felt since my early 20’s (many decades ago).
I’ll take one and throw it away so that neither of us has to eat it.
