With the .gov subsides (housing, healthcare, UE, WIC) they have no need to work.
It isn’t about wages.
If your housing, food, and childcare is paid for by Uncle Sugar, why work for any wage and pay for it? If I offered them $30, then they would have to pay for their own apartment, medical care, food, etc. “That is to stressful boss!” Actual statement from the guy who recently quit.
I can raise my prices, but I doubt you would be willing to pay it. Inflation cuts everyone. It was kept artificially low by immigration for years. And with the current largesse, who wants to be an Ant while the Grasshoppers are eating for free?
If you paid $100/hr would get a worker? Hell yes.
The trick is to find the price point for labor between $20 and $100 that will attract the type employee you want. It ain't rocket surgery.
