..Piper aircraft co. had a long line of aircraft named after native american, a/k/a Indian, tribes....I learned to fly in a Piper Cherokee 140, and there was the Aztec, Comanche, and so forth.... the formal name for the famed UH-1 helicopter was Iriquois....the workhorse Boeing CH-47 is known as the Chinook.....tell these people to go pound salt....
What about tribal names used by states, counties and cities in the USA? Should those also be changed?
I’d really like to see an objective opinion poll of Native Americans to determine whether these objections are widely held, or mostly the whining of a few leftists activists and attention seekers.
And then there’s the famous Apache helicopter!...............
Just change the names to “Kleagle” and “Grand Kleagle”. The top of the line trim could be the “Byrd Package”.
Yes its best just to forget all about these tribal low lives and their political correctness, so let’s get of all of the culturally appropriated names and designations - products, towns, rivers, states - and change them into something more appropriate like Small Puppies River, Chipstown, Cookieville, The Great State of Flakes, and so on so people can feel unoffended at all times.
Is Cherokee a English pronunciation of a Indian word?
The name is a complement. But, if the tribe doesn’t see it that way, the complement can be given to another worthy name.
How about Jeep Navajo?
Or, Jeep Stallion?
Or, Jeep Pony Soldier?
Change the name of that vehicle to Casino.
It’s a Anglicization of a colonial era Spanish-ization of a then local Indian word...................
I really don’t blame him. The new Cherokees suck and look like crap. I wouldn’t want my name on ‘em either.
Jeep Dog Faced Pony Soldier has a nice ring to it.
Translation: We Want More Money
One more thing... Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr. should quit using a white man name.
Bingo
/-)
Last I looked
There is not one of the 85 letters of the written language created by Sequoia that has a pronounced ,
” ch “
sound
Closest seems to be a q type sound iirc.

Tsalagi
And the Black Hawk of Black Hawk Down fame.
The way things are going, better get ahead of the curve and just call it The Jeep White Supremacist
Well I think it’s high time we take back their casinos. I don’t see how Indian casinos “honor” the Cherokees any more than having their tribe’s name plastered on the side of cars.
What about Jeep Woke?
I can see how we went from "Tsalagi" or "Tchalaqueie" to Cherokee. Same was we go from Caesar (hard "c") to Kaiser to Tsar.
Native American Indians indulged in gambling way before white Europeans came......................
