Circa 1966 my College Team was called the “Red Skins” The name was total logic.
College football sports are battle on a field. Indians were considered valiant warriors and in the past lived in our portion of Louisiana. Thus the name was total logic and actually honoring those whom first were there. My University has since changed the name of our team and I am not even interested in the new name and honestly do not know the name.
If I was Cherokee I would want my name on a jeep either. These days.
