He “Represents” the 17th Congressional District of California.

California’s 17th congressional district - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California‘s_17th_congressional_district

California’s 17th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California that is currently represented by Ro Khanna. It is located in the South Bay and East Bay regions of the San Francisco Bay Area. The district includes parts of Alameda County and Santa Clara County.

It encompasses the cities of Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Milpitas, Newark, the majority of Fremont, and the northernmost part of San Jose. The district includes the campus of Santa Clara University and the corporate headquarters of Apple Inc, Intel Corp., and Yahoo. It is the only majority-Asian district in the United States outside of Hawaii.

Hmmmm... How many Asian small businesses, and how many are paying at least $15 per hour for help?

Heck, go ahead and raise min. wage to $100/hr. That should eliminate even more businesses.

Maybe the government should give the small business the difference between what they are paying now and $15 per hour?

I was thinking about this and came up with an idea. Congressional democrats want $15/hour? Give it to them good and hard.

1.) Start with staff. All legislative interns, pages, researchers, and staffers should be mandated a $15/hour wage. It’s nakedly unfair for the machinery of congress to be run by the children of privilege who can be subsidized by their parents for a semester or a year. This could be done in the House without legislation through House rules passage.

2.) Another easy rules passage is for the House to disallow any expense to be charged if it goes to any business that doesn’t pay its employees $15/hour. Don’t reimburse hotel rooms if they don’t pay their cleaning staff a living wage, don’t eat in restaurants if their busboys don’t make $15/hour. Don’t rent a car if the car washer doesn’t make $15/hour. Let all the receipts be checked by the public, the twitter crybullies seem to like the “name and shame” game.

3.) (this one would get funny quickly) all federal expenditures to private business should go only to companies that can prove that not only do they pay their own workers $15/hour, but that they are only purchasing their supplies and raw materials from companies paying their workers $15/hour. Lettuce on your sandwich in the House cafeteria? Better be served by a cook paid $15/hour, packed by a produce packer making $15/hour, and picked by a farm worker making $15/hour and there better be a paper trail proving it all. That’s what they want right? While we’re at it, human rights don’t stop at national borders, so we have to Make sure all those children in Asia assembling all of our clothes and electronics are being paid $15/hour as well and the factories that they’re working in are buying raw materials from mines and foundries where the prison labor force is also making $15/hour. The shipping companies moving all these goods overseas of course are also going to be expected to pay their entire crew at least $15/hour.

There needs to be an effort to primary people like this. A well-funded 2022 Mike Honda jungle primary campaign to split Democrat votes + a novel GOP candidate, is better than just permitting any Democrat to run unopposed.

Sorry, but the girl at the counter at Wendy’s is not creating $23 per hour worth of value to anything. Those jobs are worth the $10 an hour most of them pay. It’s a lie that most of them are earning $8 per hour.

What a moron. A kid with no skills and little knowledge could still do something useful for a small business, but it wouldn’t be worth $15/hour. I guess the Dumocrats want no small businesses and no employed teen-agers.

Several years ago I worked at an office that had a Subway near by. Sometimes I would walk over for lunch. One day while I was there, I got to chat with the owner.

I asked him how much a store like this brings in... he said after rent, employee pay, and expenses, he made $70,000 annually. That's it.

Full time at $15 hr is $30,000. His store was in the middle of the business district so it was very busy all the time. He's going to have to raise the pay of some high school kid to $15 an hour. That money comes right out of his pocket.

A Subway sandwich is going to cost $20 each, which no one will pay or he's just going to have to get by making 50% less for himself.

is their goal to have only Amazon, Walmart, Targets, Home Depots and Olive Gardens to buy your stuff? Seems like little niche businesses don’t matter

Let’s look at the facts. Amazon raised their wage to $15 nationally, not regionally. They have more jobs today. It didn’t hurt job creation or business.

how much did they have to raise their prices?

This thread is proof-positive that half the membership of this website never, ever reads the link provided. It's like a badge of goddamn pride to not invest the time to even realize Rohit Khanna is a man, born in Philly 44 years ago.

His communist grandfather had sent his son here precisely to accomplish inserting a future Khanna into a legislative role. That's how they roll.

UChicago-Yale guy, ordinary intellect, has been groomed by the MSM since forever.

Khanna lost badly to Lantos in '04 and was promptly picked up by LA white shoe firm O'Melveny & Myers.

Bobo gave him some suckup Deputy Commerce jerb for 2 years but the dude has been glass-ceilinged ever since...

Exhibit (A) as to why that glass ceiling exists: the dry-toast talking-point gibberish -- the source of this thread with the link only a few here actually perused -- Khanna attempted to put over this morning on no-info Obama Democrats, who probably appropriately regard him with suspicion 'not their kind of brown loafer' LOFL.

SCHADENFREUDE yesterday, SCHADENFREUDE tomorrow, SCHADENFREUDE forever.

We’d rather see young workers flat broke rather than earning $300-400 a week.

One upside I see is fewer jobs for illegals: Who wants to pay $15/hr for unskilled, illiterate labor that can't speak English?

I also foresee a large number of people paid less than $15/hr under the table.
