Because there is no salvation outside the one true Church. Peter doesn’t hand out the Keys to the Kingdom to just any ol’ church.

Because a bad Pope happens now and then. In the grand scheme of things he’s a tiny blip. There have been some terrible Popes that make this one look like a little punk. This too shall pass.
A TRUE CHURCH can’be led by a DEVIL, and a host of DEVILS at all levels. It’s like saying an HONEST company that is run by con men. Words do mean something.
So all non-Catholics are going to hell?
