• Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and keeping the peace with gentle thread policing. Thank you Bray for weekly written wisdom, Thank all yon contributors for excellent commentary to flesh it all out.

• Below are the words from my daily political diary. It is quite long so scroll on by if not interested. But do stay around and add your commentary and point of view to the thread.

Note-be sure to contribute to the current ongoing Freepathon. BEFORE we all get removed from Facebook and Twitter. We are going to need FreeRepublic

Yes I am compiling a Blog about the great pandemic of 2020 and how my country stupidly shut down the economy.  We will have opinions, political and cultural highlights, my personal experience, social media details, even TV reviews since I watch so much TV while in my home jail.  We shall, as always, end with a smile.

MAJOR POLITICAL EVENTS OF THE WEEK
(another update)

Texas Weather

Yon descendants it isn't often that the weather becomes a major political event of the week.  But if you all are not warm due to frozen windmills that don't work, still and in your day, know that somehow , like the meme above points out, God got involved with all this back here in my day.

It was too much of a coincidence.

See, yon descendants, they want what they call "Green Energy".  They want to use the wind, the sunshine, natural phenomena if you will, to create electricity...to run our cars.  So President Biden, who will be, by the time you read this, one of the worst presidents ever, stopped the building of a very logical pipeline so that oil and natural gas can be delivered from Canada throughout the United States.

Then Texas, normally a warm state, not subject to wintry weather for the most part, was set up to use windmills and solar panels with a backup of nuclear, oil and natural gas when needed.

It was a most splendiferous idea.

Only the windmills froze and how much sun shines on an icy and snowy day?

Texans were freezing, the electrical grid did not work, quite a few people died.

God does bless America, yon descendants.  Let's hope we learn the lessons He sent us.

Rush Limbaugh Passes On

I now tell my descendants that Rush Limbaugh, a famous talk radio commentator of my era, has passed on.

Below is the context of an email I sent him and his PERSONAL response to me.  I was a woman's libber of the highest order and I let Rush know it.

Someone please tell Rush that he best serves this hungry public out here by staying away from the subject of women. I am a female, yes, and a devoted Rush listener. But when that man gets started talking about females he is positively insulting. Today, Wednesday 9/26/07, he really went over the top. So pretty women do not need to be smart? So smart women are, thusly, UGLY? If I didn't already love Rush he'd be on my long list of men whose IQ is measured by the size of their gonads. Whoever's in charge of Rush's content, please keep off the subject of women. On this matter the public would be better served without his input. I am, Pat Fish Georgetown, Delaware

REVIEWS TV SHOWS
(since I watch so much TV, not for my descendants)

Review-MacGyver
CBS, Fridays, 8pm

A reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus "Mac"
MacGyver, who creates the Department of External Services (DXS), a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem-solving and vast scientific knowledge ...

MacGyver is definitely a guy's show.  For like most males but few females, MacGyver can take a screwdriver and a hammer and make a ship out of old sheet metal.

He is a member of some kind of organization that finds the bad guys.  Of course MacGyver goes along on all assignments cause you never know when you might need a door broken into.  Or an airplane wing fixed.  Or someone to drive the getaway vehicle.

I don't pay much attention to the story line when MacGyver is on.  The pace is too fast, frantic and frankly a tad not believable, to capture my total attention.  But when MacGyver uses two wrenches to serve as a chainsaw by a few simple adjustments, man...I am IMPRESSED.

If you're a guy you will love MacGyver.  Women maybe not so much but you will be entertained by the skills of MacGyver.

My father was a carpenter who could do anything.  He is no longer with us but dang he would have loved MacGyver.

EDITORIAL
(My opinion for my descendants)
Alinsky's 12 Rules for Radicals

Please forgive me yon readers for taking up a lot of reading space here.  But I think, in this day and age and with everything going on, I think knowing the Rules for Radicals as delineated by Saul Alinsky is something we all should learn.

Copy them somewhere on your storage device so you have them at all time for consultation when needed.
----------------------------------------------------
RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”
Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.”
It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.”
Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”
Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.”
Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.”
Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.”
Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”
Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

THE FLY ON THE WALL

Yes I am a fly and yes I also Blog.  I tend to wander around among the politicians and hear their conversation.  Because I am a fly beneficial to humanity, I share that which I hear. Bear in mind my spelling.  I am, after all, only a fly.

Andrew Cuomo Meeting

Yon human readers, here's notice that I hit pay dirt.

For I flew into a meeting attended by the Governor Cuomo of New York.

There were about ten other attendees and the meeting was held in a large room that I rarely fly in.  But I saw all those people and servers bringing in large boxes of donuts and I had to check it out.

Cuomo was seated at the front of the room and held a cup of coffee.  All of the other attendees sat in chairs set up in rows in front of him.

"I got all of you here today first, to say what I am going to say next.  Then you can ask me any questions.  You all got that?"

The attendees all shrugged like humans do at times and Gov. Cuomo continued...."There better not be any impeachment of me.  There better not be noble fellows among you who go to the media with a story of how bad I was.  Finally, you can all stop saying bad things about me."

"What are you going to do if we do any of those things?" one attendee asked.

Gov. Cuomo leaned toward the people seated in the chairs.

"We all agree that we were not going to use that ridiculous ship in NY Harbor to house people recovering from COVID.  We were not going to allow Trump to get any credit and thus the praise of glory from his crazy followers.  We all agreed that we would have those leaving the hospital after a bout with the virus to return to their nursing home.  You guys hear me?  WE AGREED!"

A fellow with a head full of gorgeous humans hair asked to speak.  "With all due respect, sir, we had no idea that you would be sending people to those homes who were not fully cured.  You even sent some active cases to the nursing home in Brooklyn when that hospital ICU got filled.  It was YOUR decision that caused so many to die.  We never agreed to that."

Gov. Cuomo took a deep breath.  "John, how about I get some pictures of your computer filled with child pornography and show it to the world?'

Nobody said a word.

"And Joe, how about I tell your wife and the public who you want to someday vote for you about your weekly date with prostitutes?  Bill, we got some of those emails you sent to female employees at the capitol.  And Andy, what about that money you've been taking out of the state account?"

With that Gov. Cuomo stood as if ready to leave.

"We've got stuff on all of you guys.  So go on and be part of any group trying to get rid of me.  Cause I can guarantee that YOU will all be gone too.  Some of you will be able to join me in jail."

With that Gov. Cuomo left the room and the attendees all remained silent as they sauntered out.

So yon human readers, take this to your human banks....NOTHING will ever cause Gov. Cuomo any pain or suffering.

Brought to you by this very helpful human fly.

Bingo on the Fly story and Cuomo and no credit for Trump. Have been pondering the same question re why the ship wasn’t used and as usual lives impacted due to politics.

I for one am surprised that no class action suit has been filed in this whole affair.

Like the elections I’d assume the word is out that the judiciary will not interfere in the inner workings of any Covid related decisions, especially by the leader of a state....
