The four members of Oakley Union Elementary School District Board had stepped down by Friday amid growing outrage that began with the board’s Wednesday meeting. Before the meeting officially began and unaware the public could see and hear them, they used profanity and made jokes about parents just wanting a babysitter or to smoke pot in their home.

The incident garnered national attention and widespread condemnation.

The district’s superintendent, Greg Hetrick, announced the resignation in a letter Friday and said that Contra Costa County education board members will replace them in an interim capacity, the Mercury News reported.

That is what they truly think of parents.

They can’t even hide their contempt for the public anymore.

Glad they all resigned. That is what they needed to do. Boneheads.

Now imagine what public school teachers think of their students. The fish stinks and rots from the head down.

I wonder if the three they just slaughtered qualify as the moderates on an SF area school board. I wonder if there is nothing left but the maxine waters of the world.

This sounds like some of the people I worked with when a research associate with the government. Many FedGov employees were friendly to the public but there were a number who were paranoid and condescending to the people we were trying to assist. That was the early 1990’s so with today’s “woke” culture I bet the situation is much less friendly to the public than in my days.

School boards in my state (MO) are elected. If they bad mouth their constituents they should resign—they work for their constituents not the other way round. Their first job is to educate the students in their district. I don’t know why their school(s) are closed, ours are not. But they should be doing their best to get kids back into the classroom. If that’s too much of a bother, then the district is better off without their ‘leadership’.

School boards may be the low end of the bureaucratic hierarchy that passes for government, but this incident is indicative of exactly how our government regards the citizenry.

If there were a way to completely eliminate the citizenry while maintaining their positions and chances of advancement, I have no doubt the ruling class would do so with no hesitation whatsoever.

I watched some yesterday and the most telling part of the video was the ‘silence’ when they found out their video conference was ‘live’ and open to the public.
They knew immediately they had ‘stepped in it’...
I was not shocked really, I already knew the attitude of public school officials was suspect.
Every endeavor has a ‘public face’ and another for the back room, these folks got caught slamming their ‘customers’ on the ‘sales floor’.
Would not have happened to nicer people.

They were projecting.

They all just want government checks, without having to do any actual work or care about those who they are supposed to serve.

School boards generally are elected and unpaid.

Assuming these board members live in the district, I hope they get the neighborly treatment they deserve. Maybe some sympathy cards for the loss of their jobs.
