Also, I’m not an energy expert, but it seems the proper place for solar power is “downstream” as possible - ie) on individual homes or buildings. NOT “upstream” in large utility-scale aggregations.

Individual users with solar can manage inconsistencies according to their own circumstances. With utility-scale solar, an common problem, like heavy-snow, geometrically multiplies the consequences.

Its anti-fragile vs. fragile.

Good answer. I designed and built a small PV solar power plant and relied on it for six years without grid power. My comments here (and a few other things) were powered by it. You are at one step in the direction of being more of an expert than the experts. ;)

PV solar power does work best in places with many sun-days per year, though.
