Cruz SHOULD have beaten Beto by 10 to 15 points in 2018, but instead needed the man he despises, Trump, to pull him across the finish line (and barely). While Cruz’s Senate record is basically spotless, he is a TERRIBLE politician and our side LOSES elections when we nominate dimwits. Look at West Virgina - a state that went 70/30 for Trump because of Obama’s War on Coal. What happened 2 years later? The Republicans there ran a TOTAL LOSER, and Manchin was re-elected by 10 points.
In another world, where WE control some media, maybe we people with Cruz’s lack of brains could keep the story spiked, but not in this world. The best thing now is to simply replace him in the 2024 primary...he doesn’t seem to have the level of common sense needed for the job, nor does anyone around him (or if they do, he doesn’t see a need to take their advice).
