Over a week after lawmakers and Gov. Gavin Newsom said they were approaching a deal on school reopening, negotiations over how to return California's students to classrooms have yet to yield any results.
"People want their lives back and they want their kids to go back to school," said Matt Rexroad, a California political consultant and former Yolo County supervisor.
"We are making progress, and it is stubborn," the governor said of talks.
But teachers and some parents say schools shouldn't reopen until it's safe. The emergence of new variants could pose significant risks, CTA members say.
The CTA this week launched a television ad campaign warning that "COVID is still a threat."
"Reopening requires real safety and accountability measures, and prioritizing vaccines for educators," the ad says. "Reopen schools, putting safety first. "

I despise the teachers’ unions but the teachers have a point - if there is danger out there that justifies closing places, then they would be in danger.
The answer is easy - open everything up, then they’d have no justification to stay out.
Lowests of the low.
And NewSCUM who can shut down an entire state can’t open up skools because he’s scared of a bunch of Lill Ole Ladies, God bless their Hearts?-)

If Nuisance is recalled his successor needs to be someone who can stand up to the teachers’ unions. I’m not optimistic.
The mayor of Chicago seems to be getting close.
