I place the blame on the energy companies. It’s been cold and icy in Texas many times. The power has gone out, but is always back on in a reasonable amount of time. What’s going on is outrageous. We don’t have ice in Dallas, just snow and you can drive. It’s cold, but no reason not to have electricity. Abbott seems clueless.

Here along the Gulf coast, we used to have an electric company called GSU (Gulf States Utilities). After hurricane Rita in 2005, they were absolute wonder workers, getting poles and lines back up working day and night, but it cost them so much they never could recover. In comes our current supplier Entergy and it has never been the same. We are pretty rural and for many years our power would be out with just a good gust of wind but it was always-always back on in an hour or 2 at the most. Now if we have a power out, we might as well try to find a motel room in a neighboring town because you can bet it will turn into a 24 or 48 hour deal. I've been around long enough to see the difference.
