Democrats on Thursday will introduce their version of immigration reform legislation, which essentially consists of a roundup of immigration priorities President Joe Biden laid out on day one of his administration.
The reform proposal is so far the most ambitious effort to counteract the Trump administration's hardline border policies.
The U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 would create an eight-year path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented people in the country. First, it would provide them with a new type of temporary status for five years and then allow them to obtain citizenship after another three years.
The path to citizenship only applies to people who have been in the country since Jan. 1, 2021. Anyone who entered the country illegally after that date would not qualify.
The bill provides funding for more immigration judges and support staff to help with the backlog of asylum seekers.
The bill also provides funding for lawyers to represent minors and other vulnerable groups, a move that also makes it more statistically likely for migrants to finish out the court process.
The bill would remove the word "alien" in the immigration code and replace it with "noncitizen." This move has been applauded by immigrant advocates who see the use of the word as derogatory and dehumanizing.
It would also end the three and 10-year bans on reentry for undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the country.
The bill also reforms legal immigration processes by no longer counting spouses and minor children against a country's share of allotted visas. It also means LGBTQ+ partnerships would be treated equally under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
If Democrats decide to go at it alone, they could pass some form of the bill, but that move could also contradict the message of unity and bipartisanship Biden campaigned on.

WELCOME, one word, one page and they still didn’t read it!
Looks like the orcs marching out of Mordor...
There is that deception popping up once again. These people are such liars.
Eleven million illegal aliens is the same number used for two decades now. Everyone knows it is three times this number.
During the Bush years, Jorge, Kennedy, McCain and a few others draft a comprehensive immigration bill that if passed would have given essentially amnesty for eleven million illegals. Buried in the bill (one reason it failed) was legalese giving those same people the ability to petition immigration to bring up to four of their family members here legally. Also after a couple of years, being able to file their tax documents and claim the earned income tax credit essentially giving a taxpayer handout to those under the poverty line...most if not all.
Fundamentally changing the makeup of our country and ensuring an impoverished class dependent on leftist government for their existence in exchange for their leftist grip on power.
We need adjudication by the SCOTUS to put this issue to bed.
DoA - donating to NumbersUSA to ensure that it remains so.
No wonder the DemonicRats did not want the citizen question on the census.
Question: What do illegals have to do to prove they were here in 2021? Anyone born before 2021 can make the claim.
The Deplorables want a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. Since that amnesty was granted already, a second amnesty is off the table. What remains is the enforcement the Democrats have disallowed since then.
The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.
There are NOT 11 million illegals in this country...
MUCH closer to 60 million.
