GOP Thrives as Trump’s Party

The attempted coup against Trump as the leader of the Republican Party has failed, and the quest to purge his supporters has boomeranged against the elite.

Many local GOP groups cast unanimous votes of censure against officials who betrayed Trump supporters and all Americans by misusing the impeachment proceedings against citizen Trump. The GOP has not seen this level of grassroots energy in decades.

“The best laid schemes o’ Mice an' Men … lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain, For promised joy!” wrote the celebrated Scottish poet Robert Burns, coining a phrase that John Steinbeck later borrowed for the title of his famous novel.

Never-Trumpers who control the GOP money had a plan for banishing Trump. Consultants who feed at the trough of campaign dollars seek a return to lining their own pockets with fees as candidates would raise money without competition by Trump.

But the continued enthusiastic support for Trump among voters, as confirmed by every recent poll, shows that we are not returning to a gentrified Republican Party run by consultants. Liz Cheney hung on to her leadership position only because the vote was held in secret to conceal who the traitors are.

On Saturday 86% of Republican senators voted for Trump, despite intense arm-twisting to try to toss him overboard as the GOP leader. The scattered few Republicans who voted against him are a discredited bunch of Trump-haters, lame ducks, and recalcitrant globalists.

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) was promptly censured by five GOP county organizations in his state, and Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) was censured by his statewide party. These extraordinary rebukes by Republican groups against Republican officials reflect a new era of grassroots power within the Republican Party.

“The party is headed in a Trumpist direction,” lamented Sarah Longwell on C-SPAN this morning. She is the Executive Director of a new PAC called the Republican Accountability Project, formed for anti-Trump Republicans.

The hundreds of thousands of Americans who rallied for Trump on January 6th disrupted the carefully laid plans of the Trump-haters. America has a rich history of disrespectful, raucous protests dating back to the Boston Tea Party.

It is the mockery of the sanctimonious officials which incurred their wrath against the mostly peaceful, even fun-seeking, protesters. Nobody likes to be ridiculed, and the self-centered political elite in D.C. dislike it most of all.

China forbids mocking Xi Jinping by comparing him to the cartoon character Winnie the Pooh, and noting the uncanny resemblance. Two Chinese citizens disappeared after posting a video containing such ridicule, and humiliated leaders on Capitol Hill seem to want similar punishment here.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) showed his disdain for the free speech rights of Trump supporters when McConnell ranted against him on Saturday, before voting to acquit. McConnell should have defended First Amendment rights instead.

Congressional tyrants have demanded arresting hundreds of political protesters who made their way into the Capitol, a public building holding a proceeding that should have been open to the public. Complaints are about a little vandalism, but that pales in comparison to the looting of Americans’ pocketbooks by Congress.

It was fake news by the New York Times, not retracted until a month later, that Trump supporters bludgeoned a Capitol police officer to death with a fire extinguisher. There was no truth to that story, yet Democrats based their article of impeachment against Trump on it.

When federal agents should be protecting our country against violent crime, they spend time looking for hundreds more of law-abiding Americans who happened to be in or near the Capitol on January 6th. One video even shows a police officer directing people to enter the building, but vengeance cares nothing about justice.

As many as 800 people are becoming political prisoners of retaliation by Trump-haters, and this emerges as a leading issue in the midterm elections next year. Some are veterans who have risked their lives defending our freedoms against foreign enemies.

Perhaps Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi would be more comfortable serving in the government of China, where harmless protests are brutally suppressed.

The protestors gave us powerful images that should become a rallying cry against the imperial Congress. The image of a jovial man playfully lifting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s podium is a priceless symbol of how Americans feel about the D.C. elite, as is the picture of a peaceful commoner from Idaho sitting in the feckless Vice President Mike Pence’s chair.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a pro-Trump freshman in the House, is banned from Fox News and excluded from committees, yet immensely popular among her constituents. That attempted purge is failing badly too, as Never-Trumpers cannot stop talking about her.

Voter turnout decides elections now, and that requires enthusiasm for the Republican candidate. Trump has it, while his detractors do not.\

While President Trump suggested a new Party, like the Patriot Party, he came back the next day and said he will run with the Republican Party.

The attempted coup against Trump as the leader of the Republican Party has failed,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Really?
You mean he was not cheated out of office by BOTH parties?
He is still the President?
The GOP wanted rid of President Trump as much as the Democrats.
And they succeeded.
Third party is not the way to victory -- the votes in the general election will be too diluted, assuming a patriot party candidate would even be allowed on the ballot by the uniparty legislatures.
The RINOs have no right to the GOP. The majority of office holders are RINOs, but the vast majority of GOP voters are conservatives who voted for Trump.
There are a whole lot of very angry Trump voters who can't wait to primary the 2020 RINO traitors in 2022.
I can't wait to see Murkowski kicked out. She will lose the GOP primary like she did in 2010, but there aren't going to be enough "moderate" republicans to put her over the line as an independent like in 2010. There are no "moderate" republicans anymore. Anyone who thinks they can work with lying, cheating Dems and please everyone has no place in today's GOP.
We're coming for the RINOs in 2022.
I’ve been called an idiot and a party hack for saying this. Put on your flak vest.
For the record, you’re correct.
The Uniparty cheated Trump out of the presidency, but Trump is STILL the leader of today's GOP. The attempted coup against Trump as the leader of the Republican Party has failed,
At present the GOP office holders are RINOs, but the GOP voters are overwhelmingly Trump voters.
And we will NEVER forget 2020. The RINOs allowed the steal to happen and those up for re-election in 2022 will be kicked out. Trump is going to campaign for strong, patriot candidates in the 2022 primary. There has always been the problem that no strong patriot candidates go up against swamp RINOs in the primary, and that's how we get stuck with them.
I can't wait for Murkowski to be the first traitor Senator to lose in 2022.
When we have nominated patriots in the past for Senate seats in IN, MO, AL, NV, DE, the GOP teams up with Democrats to defeat them.
Good luck with that.
Murkowski WAS defeated in a primary in 2010 and then Mitch helped her win against the GOP nominee.
To paraphrase a 40+ year voter for the Republican party that is a very valued FReeper
“We have been fighting since day one for the last 40 years to get the RINO faction and the GOPe UNiparty cleaned up. And it is still the Uniparty swamp beast it was then.”
His words mean a lot because those younger have to learn, the Republican party is NOT but the mirror of the GOPe/Swamp and Global Swamp
GOPe, DOA.
Do you want to stay in the swamp where the swamp control you totally? Or join the New Party?
That choice is yours.
You have about the same chance to fix the Republican Party as you do rehabilitating Manson and his family.
Well news for you, Repunblicans are a 4th party. No more Whigs! No more Federalists. And the Teddy Roosevelt Bull Moose analogy doesnt work today! Only TR hated the party. The republicans were still popular, just Teddy was being an idiot with Taft, whom he himself picked, but stabbed him in the back when Taft wouldn’t adopt TR’s policys. The RNC no longer stands for what they say they stand for, same for the democraps. There now is 100 million people looking for something real that stands for values.
“Murkowski WAS defeated in a primary in 2010 and then Mitch helped her win against the GOP nominee.”
And, assuming she runs, this is exactly what will happen again. She will be the de facto Democrat candidate, with full RINO support and she will win. Some people believe that Alaska is a slam-dunk Republican state at all times — but it’s not — just because it votes that way at the Presidential level and because squishy Don Young has been re-elected for nearly 50 years.
The Democrats in Alaska are every bit as dirty as Democrats anywhere, the RINOs are right there with them (Need corroboration? Ask Sarah Palin.), and there are easily enough to get Mookowski another term.
If you don’t believe Alaska RINOs are the scum of the earth, check out the state House — where Republicans routinely win a majority of seats yet Democrats have continual control because as many RINO members as necessary defect to the Democrats. They don’t actually have the integrity to switch parties, they simply caucus (and vote) with the left yet run over and over as Republicans. This happens every 2 years.
A ‘new party’ is music to the ears of Democrats. It’s what they’ve been waiting for since 1980.
While losing the Senate last year, with Trump on the ballot no less, there were 11 seats that the GOP kept/gained with less than 60% of the vote. If there were candidates on those ballots from a ‘new party,’ Democrats would have won every one of those races. That’s their worst case scenario. In reality, they may have made states like OK, ID and NE much more competitive and perhaps even winnable.
A ‘new party’ gives Democrats super majorities in both houses of Congress.
Trump knows what he's doing. The GOP is already his - there are a handful of RINOs who need to be shown the door, but the base of the Party belongs to him already. This tells me he will run again in 2024.
His words mean a lot because those younger have to learn, the Republican party is NOT but the mirror of the GOPe/Swamp and Global Swamp GOPe, DOA.
While there are other long time Freepers, who have been voting for 40 years, who disagree with that point of view. Either way, such an appeal to authority, or what ever that was, shouldn't play here on FR.
Do you want to stay in the swamp where the swamp control you totally? Or join the New Party? That choice is yours.
The choice is more complicated than that.
The swamp would eventually infect the New Party. While America Firsters under the right leadership such as Trump can finish the transition of the Old Party.
One can look at the latest Republican vote counts to see where we are. For example, for the impeachment, in the House, only 10 Republicans out of about 213 Republicans voted for impeachment. In the Senate, seven Republican senators out of 50 voted for impeachment.
One doesn't run away from a party where they control ~246 seats out of ~263 seats. I posit that it's easier to work to primary those 17 RINO's.
And I didn't think that way before Trump came along.
The choice is indeed ours, and Trump's.
145 voted to retain Liz Cheney in leadership.
Your numbers are way off.
Yes, the Cheney for leadership numbers weren't good.
The numbers I gave are good for the Senate conviction vote, the House impeachment vote, the Senate Constitutionality vote and the Cheney House censure vote.
Look at the Senate leadership, McConnell, Cornyn, Grahamnesty, that’s who they chose as their leaders.
In the House it’s not any better.
The GOP has had an agenda for thirty years that has been the opposite of MAGA, it is to turn the USA into North Mexico.
They fought President Trump at every turn as he tried to secure the border and restore the rule of law.
They assisted the Democrats in cheating him out of office to keep him from taking over the GOP and saving our country.
