Universal background checks and red flag laws aren’t “middle ground” agenda items. They certainly don’t “honor” the Second Amendment. Instead, these are some of the top priorities of gun control activists, and they are aimed squarely at legal gun owners rather than violent criminals.
I’m sure that gun control activists would love to see a third party comprised of former Republicans who are willing to embrace at least a few of the gun control movement’s biggest issues. Not only would it allow Democrats to pick up some additional votes for their anti-gun legislation, but more importantly it would cripple the chances of the Right to take back control of the House and Senate in 2022 by dividing the Right into separate and warring camps.
Like Muschick, I too have grown frustrated with the GOP over the past month or so, but unlike the former Republican, I’m annoyed with both factions, who seem to have forgotten the basic lesson of Politics 101: you win through addition, not subtraction.
The greatest gift the Right could give the gun control movement would be to split into two separate factions or political parties, which would benefit Democrats far more than it would either pro-Trump or anti-Trump Republicans.

The author's basic premise is incorrect.
Those leaving the republican parry are not doing so because the republican party is strong on guns, or other conservative issues.
Just the opposite.
Looks like you haven’t gotten the latest new improved definition memo extolling the additional meanings of “infringed”. Still waiting on mine via Western Union.
Anti-Trump Republicans/Bush League Republicans ARE Democrats who wear R jerseys for camouflage.
“ I’m sure that gun control activists would love to see a third party comprised of former Republicans who are willing to embrace at least a few of the gun control movement’s biggest issues. ”
Um, that’s not how this works.
“I’m sure that gun control activists would love to see a third party comprised of former Republicans...”
The abuser in a bad relationship uses fear to control the victim. Don’t leave the Republican party or bad things will happen.
Aww this had the Family in stitches with suggestions about what to say to the article.
Most cannot be shown here, so we will go with the PG version.
Dear Cam Edwards,
firstly this is a very poor psyop piece, enough on that point.
Now to the meat on the BBQ, it is not a few, but 95% of Republicans you think can be swayed by fear is incorrect, why you may ask?
The GOPe officially became DOA through the past 4 years, not by accident, but by clear and verifiable actions to destabalize and destroy Our President DJT, the unconstitutional Act #2 of Impeachment was the sound of the GOPe seeing MASS party members vacating and their bank accounts from Donations starting to look like a weeks work pay in a Chinese sweat shop.
Stay together to save us from gun control, THAT BOAT SAILED Jan 6th
Please accept our profound apologies if this news is shocking to you but the answer is No.
Blessings
“Shall not be infringed” means what it says. Any restrictions of any kind are infringements. Gun control is not about guns. It is about control. There is only one reason one group of people would want to disarm another group. They want to do things that well-armed people would never allow.
Contrary to the simplistic suggestions of utter morons, it’s not just conservatives who are talking about leaving the GOP.
If you read the article, you would see that.
It’s amazing to see how social media has retarded the minds of people who once had common sense.
When Obama was elected in 2008, we immediately hit the ground running with the tea party, organized and took about control over the House 2 years later.
Now cowardice, no surrender, no quitting.
The brain dead moron cowards now? They want to surrender and give the Democrats total control without a fight.
12 years of social media (which largely didn’t exist in 2008) has turned many so called conservatives into cowardly mush.
How does it feel to have less courage than Stacy Abrams or AOC? They may be radical America hating commies but unlike many of the cowards here, at least they don’t quit.

The fallacy in this logic is the assumption that a split in the GOP would result in three competing parties. Its more likely that the emergence of a new conservative party (a real one this time) would effectively decimate the GOP and render it an insignificant and inconsequential party. I mean, if there was a political affiliation alternative to the GOP who would want to remain in the Gutless Old Party?
In other words, the GOP would quickly fade away and we would be right back to a two party system, the main difference being there would actually be two competing parties instead of a single Uniparty.
I just don't see how a new, energized and purposeful party would benefit Democrats. To the contrary, there are a lot of people who would love to have a party they look forward to supporting. Even some disaffected Democrats, and there are a lot of them, might join such a movement.
Depends if the entrenched morons cheat..and the pub morons ..who are now a bigger obstacle than the dems..go along with the steal.
Otherwise, while we may slowly slug our way back..its next to impossible to beat a cheater.
Especially when there are NO consequences for cheating..not to mention in your face corruption.
Anyone who thinks a third party is good news for people who value constitutionally enshrined liberty just didn’t pay much attention to their math classes....any of them.
The coalition the GOP currently represents is already a minority party, nationally. Any bifurcation of that already minority group would only lead to supremacy of the Democrat party in states that are today, reasonably ‘red’.
If there are three candidates on the ballot and those candidates represent Democrats, Republicans and the ‘Patriot Party’ (or whatever its name would be), not a SINGLE statewide federal seat would be won by the ‘Patriot Party’ and because of the siphoning of votes from the Republican candidate, the Democrat candidates would win contests that would otherwise be a comfortable victory for the Republican. With a robust ‘Patriot Party,’ The Dems could easily pickup 80-seats in the House and 20-30 seats in the Senate. One would only need to look at all the federal election last year where the Democrat candidate was within 15-points of the Republican. Those are the seats the Dems would win.
This isn’t hard to understand, mathematically. I’m absolutely stymied who so many apparently can’t understand it. The only hope of fighting the Democrats is by taking back the Republican party from corporate interest shills like McConnell. That’s going to have to be done one county, state and federal office at a time through the primary process. Anything else is the wet dream of Democrats.
MAGA needs to demonstrably take over the republican party.
Fact. Well stated.
We should have all jumped ship and joined the Reform Party a long time ago. By now it would be the biggest party with the most seats in Congress.
Instead, we keep kicking the can down the road hoping that individual voters can somehow compete against the massive corporations that back the GOPe. We'll continue to have as much clout as individual investors have at the annual stock investors meeting.
A real MAGA party would attract new voters. These voters are wage earners and the working blue collar class. Right now over 60 million do not vote because the only choices are the Cheap Labor Express or the loony left.
You are thinking statically. This is your mistake. It is sign of a low IQ or being a paid GOP shill....
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the people who don’t vote are the dumbest of the dumb, the laziest of the lazy. They don’t care about liberty and likely can’t even spell it.
The only argument I’m making is the bifurcation of the GOP gives the Democrats super majorities in the House and Senate.
It’s not a political argument. It’s simply an understanding of very elementary mathematics. 51% is greater than 49%. Splitting the Republican party in pieces when the current hole is already less than 49% isn’t going to win many races.
Unless the GOP changes, and I don't expect them to, I will kamikaze vote democrat to get rid of my RINO Representative.
