His book, Hitlers War, was researched for a decade.
He delved into the official archives of Great Britain and Germany for ten long years, he interviewed and read countless first hand accounts from those closest to Hitler.
His crime? He included the same amount of references to the holocaust as Winston Churchill himself did in his writings about the war.
Zero.
Unfortunately for Mr. Irving, his book came about a decade after encyclopedias started inserting this tale into their works. So.... not including it at that point in history was a problem.
His response was, he didnt put it in, because after ten years of the most massive investigation for that particular book, there was none. In fact, every bit of so called evidence was manufactured after the war, and, he absolutely proves this.

David Irving is an English author and Holocaust denier[1] who has written on the military and political history of World War II, with a focus on Nazi Germany. His works include The Destruction of Dresden (1963), Hitler's War (1977), Churchill's War (1987) and Goebbels: Mastermind of the Third Reich (1996).
In his works, he argued that Adolf Hitler did not know of the extermination of Jews, or, if he did, he opposed it.[2]

Irving marginalised himself from the mainstream of the study of history in the 1970s when he began to claim that Hitler had neither ordered the extermination of the Jews nor known about the Holocaust.[4] He went even further in 1988 when based on his reading of the pseudoscientific[Note 1] Leuchter report, he began to openly espouse Holocaust denial, specifically denying that Jews were murdered by gassing at the Auschwitz concentration camp.[5][6]
Irving's reputation as a historian was discredited[Note 2] in 1996 when, in the course of an unsuccessful libel case he filed against the American historian Deborah Lipstadt and Penguin Books, he was proven to have deliberately misrepresented historical evidence to promote Holocaust denial and whitewash the Nazis.[Note 3]
The English court found that Irving was an active Holocaust denier, antisemite and racist,[7] who "for his own ideological reasons persistently and deliberately misrepresented and manipulated historical evidence".[7][8] In addition, the court found that Irving's books had distorted the history of Hitler's role in the Holocaust to depict Hitler in a favourable light.
