California's Governor Gavin Newsom's chance of getting recalled has risen since the campaign to recall him reached the 1.5 million signature threshold on Friday, bookmakers have said.

Betfair has said the chances of Newsom being recalled stand at 2-1. A week ago, before the campaign hit its target, the odds were at 5-1.

William Hill placed the odds at 5-2 for Newsom getting recalled.

Great to hear Newsom will now have to defend his record, but what exactly to the recall proponents think is going to replace him?

Good observation. When we recalled Gray day Davis, we could have replaced him with Tom McClintock (my vote), We ended up with (R)nold....

I hope this effort is not foiled by all the pissed-off Republicans that canceled their registration and failed to re-register as independents before signing the petition.

There will probably be many on the ballot. Highest vote getter wins.

This recall has already won.

1. It has caused Newsom to start scaling back some of his most outrageous garbage;

2. It has crippled at least or destroyed at most his national aspirations.

3. It has put pols on notice that even reprobate California has its limits

Maybe 4, we could replace him with some sort of improvement.

Hindsight is 20-20. Arnold should have come out harder for McClintock as his Lt. Governor. Instead he was comatose and got reelected just for himself. Became democrat-lite. Since dealing with the assembly was a losing matter he could have then resigned and turn the controls over to McClintock, a more conservative fella. Arnold hated the right.

My main work office is in Los Angeles and I run an office in Vegas. That office comprised of liberals who r calling me asking if I can sign the recall petition? Obviously, I cannot. However, it shows just how inept pretty boy is at governing.

Oh, I have been amazed at the amount of liberals who will “Eff that guy! Where do I sign?” and they are women in their eighties.

They voted for this nut and they simply want him out and don’t care who the next governor is.

The irony is Democrats will challenge the signatures claiming they need to prove each is a voter.

(sarcasm??? or truth???)

"It has crippled at least or destroyed at most his national aspirations.'

That's the main reason we signed it. He is practically a shoe-in for the Democrat nominee in 2024. Harris will prove herself inept and Biden just won't last that long, especially after destroying so many jobs.

A Newsom appointed judge will invalidate about 50% of the signatures with no time left to gather enough to meet an arbitrary deadline.
