Good Lord!...
With molted mozzarella.
Another young skull full of mush with a PhD.
OK, he knows some technical stuff about nucular {in the pronunciation of shrub} fusion, but all he knows about the climate is that "it's pretty scary".
These dweebs don't know jack about the climate from an historical perspective.
It gets hotter and then it gets cooler, mostly due to sun spots and solar activity.
Man can barely record, let alone effect global climate activity.
The arrogance of these people is stunning.
About every ten years a fusion breakthrough is announced. So far none have succeeded. The road from theoretical physics, experimental proofs, reasearch and development, industrial production and deployment is not a straight paved road. Yet we can only hope this young engineer has had the insight necessary to make fusion energy a reality. It would be a monumental accomplishment.
This is the propaganda arm of Deep State hope and change. Last time it was Solindra. That worked just the way it was designed to. This new one will too.
He’s even got a beard. Belly up will come when he’s got a man bun.
Thirteen and a Halfth Law of the Universe: The quest for getting something out of nothing always produces “unlimited” spending.

both bill and bozo supporting him. must be some sinister plan.
Sure, sure.
Exactly. I was reading, waiting for some nugget of new information, only to find there was nothing of substance. This is the biggest ‘non event’ article ever. It is simply another ‘fusion is the answer and will take 20 years’ claim.
Pons and Fleischmann were more exciting.
From there, CFS would move on to develop ARC, its first fusion power plant connected to the power grid. CFS says it expects to be making fusion energy on the grid “in the early 2030s.”
Yup, the ARC Reactor. Killed the Dude from the Big Lebowsky.
Simple!
> “Don’t give that guy any money. He’s an idiot.”
Spot on.
I knew this was a puff piece from the lead-in:
“After Brandon Sorbom graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2010, he decided to take the “couple of thousand dollars” he had saved and his credit card (he had 0% interest for a year) and fly to Boston.”
This fable crafting form is old and worn.
Before reading further, I imagined there would be a panning over the virtues of fusion as clean, powerful, nearly limitless fuel blah blah blah contrasted with the nastiness of fission blah blah blah rounded out by its galactic impact on man-human-transhuman-kind blah blah blah followed by how all the in-crowd want it, all the mega-billionaires got their wankers in it blah blah blah, arriving at the final blah blah blah which is the containment plasma is a frickin nightmare to engineer and control (#whyGodinventedgravity).
But the billionaire-backed wonderboy has solved how he is going to solve it.
And that’s exactly what the newbie darling progressive wrote.
Let me tell you what this is. This is a Climate Change PR campaign promotion of how a hero with a few dollars and a credit card has solved the solution of solving how to solve and might solve Climate Climate. Ok?
Meanwhile, US oil production of sweet light crude is targeted for destruction while OPEC Obama buddies high five each other how they’re back in the game.
And the price of crude is in the elevator going up.
“...nearly unlimited clean energy...”
So, we’re back to selling perpetual motion machines are we?
Yeah, anyone who even paid *partial* attention in High School physics and/or chemistry knows that there is NO SUCH THING as so-called ‘clean energy’.
Or, as Heinlein phrased it: TANSTAAFL.
“He’s an idiot.”
Or maybe he knows the right words to say to acquire more funding.
There seems to be no end of “we are all gonna die” type funding.
Just a natural temperature... of an exploding supernova. Like large wind turbine and solar farms, these things will only be built in low voter density/conservative areas.
