From Vikings to retarded cucks...
That is what we have and we only looked at houses with natural gas.
Last time they turned off the power, they forgot to turn ours back on. 6 AM to 5 pm when it was supposed to be only 20 minutes.
They also blew transformers when turning power on and didn’t have enough replacements. They had to order more from... China. Biden needs more $$$$$.
By the way, it’s 23 now and dropping, expecting a low of 8 tonight and freezing rain/snow/sleet. 14 for thursday, nothing higher than 33 till then. East Texas.
Not a trade in propane bottle to be found in town, few people out this morning, I’m running propane heater and water heater. Two electric heaters to help out and my feet are still cold.
I hope dripping faucets will prevent busted pipes...again...
Not looking forward to tonight.
Yeah that green energy is so coooool
I have all three and a generator that runs on natural gas.
We use propane for our heating, water heater. Wish we could get natural gas here. I wouldn’t have an all-electric house if someone paid me...I hope they don’t have these outages. We have a generator and we’re blessed but we’re keeping our lights out and our furnace turned down for what little good that might be.
>>we are dealing with higher-than-normal generation outages due to frozen wind turbines and limited natural-gas supplies available to generating units.<<
Maybe shutting down those Lignite fired power plants wasn’t such a good idea.
There’s a lot to be said for gas furnaces, ovens and water heaters...
Have all three
There’s a lot to be said for different sources of energy within one house
And having a fireplace.
No one can drive on ice. Watch fedexdriver for what not to do
Yeah, Thousands of Megawatts being shut down to appease the Climate Change scaremongers. It affects other areas when they do that also.
That was about three hours ago. I haven’t heard if it is back on yet.
2 below right now in northern Illinois with wind. Grid free wood burner is purring away at 350 degrees and inside temp is 74. Pretty rough :)
We couldn’t find a YouTube video on how to build a fire.
We have gas heat, which is great - never had a gas outage in my entire life. But the heater has multiple dependencies on electricity: thermostat, electronic pilot ignition, and the fan. So when the power goes out, no heat.
Tomorrow night is going to be the pipe buster.
We have buried lines from the collector street to the house. Above ground runs two blocks to the substation which has lines running into from two directions (usually it’s a flow through but they can re-route if a major transmission line goes down). So summer of 2019 we were without power ( and AC ) for 18 hours in August. Reliability is no longer the middle name at ERCOT, and ONCOR can be a real disaster.
You didn’t have 100mm immigrants in the 1950’s either.
We didn’t have many all electric houses back then, everybody had gas water heaters, stoves and heaters. Average size house back then was around 950-1000 sqft. It’s almost doubled that now.
pete, shut off your water main and drain every faucet, especially the one that goes outside.
