Former U.S. president Donald Trump's Senate impeachment trial enters its fifth day on Saturday.
Senators are poised to vote on whether Donald Trump will be held accountable for inciting the horrific attack at the Capitol after a speedy impeachment trial that laid bare the violence and danger to their own lives and the fragility of the nation’s tradition of a peaceful transfer of presidential power.
After a prosecution case rooted in emotive, violent images from the Capitol siege, Trump’s impeachment trial shifted on Friday to defense lawyers who argued that Trump had nothing to do with the violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Trump's defense lawyer Michael van der Veen began his argument in the Senate on Friday by calling the article of impeachment against Trump an "unjust and blatantly unconstitutional act of political vengeance." He added, "like every other politically-motivated witch hunt the left has engaged in over the past four years, this impeachment is completely divorced of the facts, the evidence and the interests of the American people."
Trump lawyer David Schoen played an edited video of several members of the Democratic party using the word "fight" during public speaking engagements. "That's okay. You didn't do anything wrong, it's a word people use, but please stop the hypocrisy," Schoen said.
Impeachment managers wrapped up their case against the former president on Thursday.
The House has charged Trump, a Republican, with inciting an insurrection by exhorting thousands of supporters to march on the Capitol on Jan. 6, the day Congress gathered to certify Democrat Joe Biden's election win.

At least they listed the scum: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
Note the democrats vote in step.
An imbecilic post.
TRUMP WON!
Again! I’m not sick of winning!
“At least they listed the scum: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania”
Don’t forget Burr of NC who voted to convict. On January 19, 2021 the DOJ announced it was dropping its investigation of GOP Senator Richard Burr of NC for insider trading. On February 13, 2021 Burr voted to convict Donald Trump. Coincidence?
“Note the democrats vote in step.”
They always do and they have successfully moved the country socially, politically, and economically to the left by sticking together for 70 years. Their party stands for something. Republicans claim to be conservative but are not. They have no guiding principles. Each Republican is in it for himself/herself. Voting Republican is a fools game.
So vote democrat and go back to the democrat underground!
Sheesh
We know of several Senators who absolutely need to be primaried.
Among the skeletons of the African, Indian and Republican elephants, only the African and Indian elephants can stand upright—and only because THOSE TWO have backbones!

There is some objective news reporting for you.
Just don’t vote at all. It’s a fools errand.
McConnell is a repugnant contemptible back stabbing corrupt POS.

Trump Releases Statement, Following Impeachment Acquittal:
Trump was found not guilty on Saturday! 2/13/2021:
President Donald Trump has released a statement following his acquittal on an article of impeachment for “incitement of insurrection.”:
“It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree.”
“I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.”
Uh huh... Got another lie to peddle?
