I don’t recall seeing any report that he denied saying it.
I do know that the NBA itself has come out with a fast rule that says ANY TEAM that wants to play in the NBA MUST play the National Anthem before any basketball game.
NBA, or at least their executives, are afraid that they are alienating their white fans. I think it's already too late. Their attendance might be fine in New York and Los Angeles. But maybe not in Indiana or Utah.
