In discussions with my sister and my “woke” adult children most of whom view themselves as being among the coastal elite and not beholden to flyover country. The vaunted “green new deal” relies heavily on nuclear power. Their claim is the safety issues have been solved by new technology and that energy source is what will make up the shortfall between wind and solar production and the current level of “fossil fuel” generation.
This was quite a revelation to us baby boomers who remember well how rabidly opposed the left was to nuclear power. To the point that they bankrupted LILCO by refusing to allow the Shorham plant to open on LI. That turned out to be part of the left’s master plan as that area is serviced by a government owned and run outfit
Complete news to me that ANY nuclear power plants ares planned or in the process of construction. IIRC, the nuclear power plant near San Diego was shut down.
