Why sung? Played at 1918 World Series according to Mental Floss...some patriotic songs etc
were played at various events, and:
“After the war (and after the song was made the national anthem in 1931), the song continued to be played at baseball games, but only on special occasions like opening day, national holidays, and World Series games.
“During World War II, baseball games again became venues for large-scale displays of patriotism, and technological advances in public address systems allowed songs to be played without a band. “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played before games throughout the course of the war, and by the time the war was over, the pregame singing of the national anthem had become cemented as a baseball ritual, after which it spread to other sports.”
It seems pro sports realize working people with families don’t have the money to spend anymore, and they (and many other businesses) are instead focusing on young working adults without families - I guess the reasoning is they are a few years dumber, have no pressing financial issues, and in many cases, have no intention of ever having children (so they’d be customers for decades to come).
Having attended Yankees games as a child, there is no doubt my parents could never afford to bring the whole family today as they could back then. Never mind official hats, jerseys, etc...
I don’t. LOL
Practice marksmanship. That’s what I do. It’s fun.
I don’t know anybody who watched the installation............
No problem, I banned the NBA.
We’re square.

I recall reading an interview from about 1980 with none other than Harold Ballard (the late irascible owner of the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs) and he said that by that time, he almost did not bother with the national anthems before the hockey games (just had the organist play O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner). He too told that story that it really was not until the World War II era that the anthems were played at Maple Leaf Gardens. Believe that he said that soldiers or those wounded in action would visit the Gardens and were given special recognition with the anthem being played.
I think one of the things it does, is engender a collective sense of unity as Americans, and pride in our country. These days though, any sense of unity is impossible, and pride is entirely on one side of the political divide.
The fans should stand and turn their backs to them. Then walk out.

The fans bought the tickets in support. I guess some tickets could
have been freebies purchased by Companies and passed out.
Anybody on the right that attends or supports pro sports is aligned with the left and Marxist.
Like the USSR we are devolving into a humorless society. Sports has been propagandized by the DC regime just like the USSR did during the cold war.
are there fans?....not that I would ever give one penny to this arrogant imbeciles to go to one of their shows...
Betting they will play the “black national anthem.”
Hey, if you like your “black national anthem” so much, then get out of my country and form your own. And not a cent from us.
They’ll be playing the Black National Anthem instead...
We see who loves our country and who doesn’t. Take your life from there.
I could not care less about the ‘hate whitey round sportsball league’.
Not possible to further boycott something you already ignore.
It’s utterly amazing to me how anyone can attend one of these games or support the team in any way and then call themselves a patriot or think of themselves as a patriot.
Mark Cuban you are well named! (with apologies to the Patriotic Cuban community in Florida).
Boycott their sponsors....................and tell them WHY!..............
