NEW DELHI -- When Ravi Chopra saw the devastating deluge of water and debris crash downstream from a Himalayan glacier on Sunday, his first thought was that this was exactly the scenario that his team had warned the Indian government of in 2014.
Chopra and other experts had been tasked by India's Supreme Court to study the impact of receding glaciers on dams. They had warned that warming due to climate change was melting the Himalayan glaciers and facilitated avalanches and landslides, and that constructing dams in the fragile ecosystem was dangerous.
“They were clearly warned, and yet they went ahead,” said Chopra, director of the non-profit People’s Science Institute.
Experts say that the disaster underscores the fragility of the Himalayan mountains where the lives of millions are being altered by climate change.
Even if the world meets its most ambitious climate change targets, rising temperatures will melt away a third of the Himalayan glaciers by the end of the century.
“As warming occurs and the ice melts, the pieces can move downhill more easily, lubricated by the water,” explained Richard B. Alley, a professor of earth sciences at Pennsylvania State University.
With warming, ice is also essentially becoming less frozen: Earlier its temperature would range between minus 6 degrees Celsius to minus 20 C and it it is now minus 2 C.
Development plans need to “go along with the environment” and not against it, said Anjal Prakash, a professor at the Indian School of Business who has contributed to research into the impacts of climate change in the Himalayas for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
“Climate change is here and now. It is not something that is going to happen later on,” he said.

Climate was static from the creation of the Earth until 1962.
Then, White devils, using math and science, purposefully destroyed Gaia for Satan.

“Megafloods of the Ice Age” (NOVA documentary, 2005.)
(Did humans cause this also?)
About 15,000 years ago, in the waning millennia of the Ice Age, a vast lake known as Glacial Lake Missoula suddenly burst through the ice dam that plugged it at one end. In the space of just 48 hours, geologists believe, the collapse sent 500 cubic miles of water cascading across the Pacific Northwest, creating overnight such unusual landscapes as the scablands of eastern Washington State. In this interview, geologist and scablands expert Vic Baker of the University of Arizona talks about what it would have been like to witness the flood, what such floods are teaching us about Mars, and what J Harlen Bretz, the colorful geologist who first proposed that cataclysmic flooding had carved the scablands, was really like.

All that is proven is the post hoc fallacy.
Carbon follows temperature.
Temperature is affected by the atomic fireball above and the molten core below.
Adult children struggle to understand these facts.
It took 12,000 years for a mile thick glacier to recede from Dayton, Ohio to northern Canada. This was before man burned the first lump of coal. Everyone used to be taught this in grade school and probably still are. The left doesn’t care if facts get ignored while they promote the big lie.
If they could figure out a way to blame us for solar flares, they would.
The Theory of “Global Warming” is CO2 from Coal plants, but Glaciers in India are some of the dirtiest, nastiest looking glaciers in the world, caused from dirt stirred up by man and industrial soot.
Brown glaciers melt faster than white glaciers.
Science!!!!
“Brown glaciers melt faster than white glaciers.”
Racist!
What does Quantum Electro Dynamics have to do with it?
It’s a White thang, you wouldn’t understand...
I’m not sure if you are referring to the additional research into this disaster. It was not a glacier calving - it was a landslide (earth and rocks) that caused this. Geologists have reviewed the various satellite images of the area that showed the sequence of events.
“Even if the world meets its most ambitious climate change targets, rising temperatures will melt away a third of the Himalayan glaciers by the end of the century.”
That is because rising temperatures are not caused by humans.
7AM and it’s a balmy 0 degrees here in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Happy winter day.
When one checks the climate records (be sure to do so before all records are purged by the DemocRAT Ministry of Truty), one can find:
1: In the past, temperature has been far hotter than even forecast for the next few decades while the CO2 content was smaller than now.
2: In the past, emperature has far cooler than now while the CO2 content was higher than today.
Perhaps this might suggest that there are some other factors controlling our temperature which have far much more “weighting” than just CO2 content.
Note, this is far above the level understandable by journalists and politicians. Sit them down, read it to them very slowly and in a very loud voice.
The same is true of glacial activity. What if glaciers don't calve because they are receding, they calve because they are growing?
As far as landslides go, there haven't been glaciers along the Monterey Coast in Central Commiefornia for decades but landslides have washed away sections of the coast nonetheless.
In fact, the ground behind the green on the 17th hole at Pebble Beach from which Tom Watson made his miraculous chip-in at The U.S. Open back in the day is no longer there because it landslided (landslid?) into the surf below.
This is Great News!! When all the pollution from our automobiles and factories caused the ICE AGE of the 1960’s through about 1980, we were about to be Frozen to Death. Thank God those same scientists realized that all that Pollution was really causing Global Warming, otherwise we would have all frozen to death by now.
THANK GOD FRO GLOBAL WARMING!

This clearly shows that it was geology, and nothing related to global warming, that caused this.
From the link: “ This is not the case. This was a classic progressive failure in mountain flank. We have seen similar events elsewhere. ”
