The senate has the fate of the Republican House in their hands this month. If the Senate screws President Trump over, the Republican Party will loose many adherents and the swing to a Republican Majority in the House will die. Likewise no ground will be gained in the Senste just based upon the class in 2022

The bigger problem is that conservatism right now is just not very popular, especially with covid going on. Too many youngsters brought up communist as well. Might take something like another 9/11 or worse to do anything about it, and that was even short term.

McConnell refused to allow ANY recess appointments, and only allowed appointments he personally approved of. He let the last impeachment run for 3 months when he could have killed it in two days.

The Uniparty will push through whichever half of the party they deem appropriate; the Republicrat or Democan depending on what act of the Kabuki Theater the country is in at the time.
We're going to witness an incredible song and dance routine over the next few years as the Uniparty tries to sell the false notion that elections aren't rigged and that votes matter. They can't afford to have people walk away recognizing that government IS THE PROBLEM as the instrument of the Uniparty, not the solution to anything.

In my area, there are only 2 Democrat held seats (Charlie Crist and Kathy Castro Castor). The rest are Republicans who are good to great. Charlie Crist might run for Governor as a D, so his district might flip to R, especially if Paulina Luna runs again.
I concur with the hypothesis but with an important caveat: redistricting. If courts allow Dems to contest the redistricting and census the math will be more difficult.
The other unknown variable is the state of the economy and COVID. If things do not improve by 2022 then Dems will be toast. People believe Biden will fix everything instantly, and we know that will not happen.

We need better candidates and probably a better party to field those candidates. Hoping President Trump announces something new and different soon.
