The GOP is not one solid structure, all good or all bad. At the national level it is MOSTLY bad. The black hat guys are 100% of the 'Rats, and I'd guesstimate 75% of the pubs.
At the States level, the GOP outlook is much brighter. It has plenty of swamp too - like AZ today, with a pub 'Rat stopping any possible election audit in Maracopa. Still, depending on the state, I'd guesstimate 5% good dems and perhaps upwards of 75% white hat pubs.
Starting a new party leaves too many years of marxist/socialist entrenchment, while this new party tries to get its bearings and still not get anywhere, resulting in a nation still requiring bloodshed to fix. OTOH, ousting the 'Rat pubbies and replacement within the GOP with Conservatives is the bloodless path.
That combined with, and I know this will draw ire here, the ramifications of the Insurrection Act of 1807 plus the 1998 EO, will create the national and state level political vacuums, from which good white hat conservatives can fill.
