Well, I’m no one’s “head of petroleum analysis”, but I thought the decrease in production, and thus the rise in prices, might have something to do with stopping a major pipeline and severely restricting oil production on federal land.

I was looking at some older photos in my DIL’s photo album. Was during the Obozo regime and she happened to capture the gas price sign. Was almost $4 a gallon. I predict it will go MUCH higher than that under Chairman Stolen.
If anything the virus is reducing travel and is help keeping prices from skyrocketing as fast as they could
There are players who can increase/decrease the flow and others who try to manipulate prices in various ways, but it's such a ubiquitous, diversely-held commodity used by all humans that it's very difficult to manipulate prices in any significant way outside of supply/demand.
The Arabs and Iranians can't really control oil - or they would. Neither can the Americans - North or South.

My truck, which I have to use everyday, takes $125 gallons to fill. Thankfully I have customers to pass that expense on to but this is still insane
