Super Bowl 55 kicked off Sunday with recording artist Alicia Keys singing the so-called black national anthem, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” along with a poem.
Hitmaker Alicia Keys was tasked with a virtual performance of the 121-year-old spiritual song that has come to be known alternately as the “black national anthem” after being introduced in 1899 for Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The poem read in 1899 was set to music in 1900.

I am outside KC and used to vacation each summer in Clearwater-Tampa. Would like to thank Tampa on the win and Chiefs on a good season.
The only good thing about the Super Bowl Game tonight was the game itself. Congrats to the “Bucs & Tom Brady”....they all were terrific...they came to the game this evening to win..period!!! The commentators, all of the ads, the half-time show all stunk to high heaven. CBS should be ashamed of itself and so should the Pepsi Cola morons that sponsored and put together the dismal Half-Time Show!!!
Like I said,,,,the only good thing was the game itself with the two great teams competing!!!! CBS & Pepsi Cola must be inhaling way too much reefer!!!

Since the advent of time-shifted viewing (starting way back with the VCR, Pay-Per-View, through DVDR and DVR, and now streaming), televised sports was the last holdout for live viewership. Starting several years ago, televised sports can no longer hold an audience compared to other activities and since the owners know their future is bleak, why would they not sell controversy and pandering to viewers to sell viewers to the few remaining advertisers? These owners will sell anything, including lies about racial discord to make a buck. They have no other option.
I also don't think it's coincidence that the NFL got one of the last recognizable names in football into the super bowl.
