Nobody ever answers this question. Why do public officials need to double-down on masks, social distancing, lockdowns, etc, even after people have been vaccinated? What's the point of the vaccination if nothing changes?

Trust me. There will never be enough people vaccinated for the government authorities to pull back on their mandates. That's because this is not about the vaccine or their health mandates or the virus.
It is about control of the population and they never will give that up once they have it. Once they have the public by the short hairs, we're screwed for good.
What I fear is they will demand masks and social distancing to protect against the common cold. People will treat a little sniffle as a major nuisance and welcome the continuation of the COVID-19 policies. Those who manufacture all those PPEs will make sure pockets are lined to keep them making the easy money.
