I understand that Shingrix has an adjuvant that increases the immune response to make the vaccine more effective.
My immune system is so out of control already, that is a risk I am not willing to take.
I’ve also read way too many comments on sites dealing with adverse reactions to the shingles vaccines and there are far too many people who now have problems that they never had before the vaccine.
I know what it looks like and am aware of what I need to look for.
If I have symptoms that indicate shingles, I will hightail it to a doctors office and seek treatment immediately. There is medicine that can help if you get it in time.
Just saw your (shingles) post :-)
I guess good to have Valtrex on hand.
A few years ago I came down with a shingles rash on my left shoulder chest and back.
I planned to ride it out, but my breakfast group explained to me the rash is just the symptom of an underlying nerve problem;and the rash could go away, but leave me in pain for a very long time. In some cases i pain for over a year.
So I took their advice to get immediate treatment from a doctor and got shingles under control, and have not had a recurrence in many years. -Tom
It’s too bad your immune system is screwed up. I had the 60% effective vaccine several years ago, and the 95% effective vaccine last year. I was a little worried that the second one might provoke a reaction because of the previous one, but I had no reaction or side effects from either shot.
Shingles can be bad. A friend’s uncle nearly lost the sight in one eye when he had an outbreak.
