And when the repubs had 56 or so what was the cry?

They are 95% “go along to get along” Uniparty grifters. They’re in it primarily for money from connections. Whatever Mr. Smith might have been in them was twisted out shortly after arrival in DC.
We now have taxation without representation for half of America’s citizens.

And they all took oath’s to defend the constitution. Is there a statute of limitations on Treason and Sedition?
