First off, using the term civilian, IMHO, goes directly toward a militia. If one becomes an LEO, at any level, they give up the label “civilian” in the course of their day job. But, coming from that clown I don’t expect anything more.
With some exceptions with regards to belt fed machine guns, armor assets with some type of heavy weaponry and air assets, todays law enforcement apparatus is just as well equipped, if not better in some cases, than anything the military has.
I know this topic can seem a bit scary/BS/loathsome/infuriating/bothersome to many, especially on here, but think about this...
Right now the SecDef wants a period with which to purge from the ranks of “extremists”. Who those people are, no one knows. But, I can tell you one thing. The “extremists” they’re talking about are, for the most part, the white males in the combat arms. Mostly the infantry guys.
Another retired General echoes the same sentiment, however he takes it a step further, wanting to regulate the clothes they wear and if they are wearing it, then they should be chaptered out of the military.
Right now Speier wants recruiters to look at the social media of recruits to determine their suitability.
So, at the end of the day, lets suppose they put these plans into place, who is going to make up the ranks of the “CIVILIAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE THAT’S JUST AS POWERFUL, JUST AS STRONG, JUST AS WELL-FUNDED”? It ain’t gonna be any of these guys. If you want to see who will be in those positions take a walk down to your local coffee shop, micro brewery or any other liberal hipster hangout. That’s who they plan on filling the ranks with. Ohhhh wait.....those folks don’t want to do it. They’re afraid of guns, aren’t they?
This whole thing is a real life version of The Hunger Games, without the actual competition(YET). Only, I don’t think their security force will be dressed up in white plastic uniforms.
