Unfortunately, I think this is not a valid argument because neither Lightfoot nor Pritzker would reject calling out the ILARNG to police the streets of Chicago. But all of the state guard units need to be withdrawn from DC, as of YESTERDAY.

A group of Chicago alderpeople, all Dems as Chicago has no Republican alderpeople, tried to pass a resolution requesting the National Guard in late summer. They were out in June. Lightfoot panned the idea based on her feeling NG troops aren't trained for the mission and it would stigmatize Chicago. As though the murder rate hasn't. Also, she grew up just down the road from Kent State, don't know what that means. And it would make many Chicago residents feel less safe. Which is true, if I were a looter or arsonists, I'd feel less safe with the National Guard around. In fact, I'd prefer to defund the police too.
