Donald Trump takes up a post-presidency hobby: revenge
The Guardian ^ | 4/2/21

Every former American president picks up hobbies after leaving office (books, painting, skinny dipping, boxing). For the early days of Donald Trump’s post-presidency he has picked something a little different: revenge.

It’s early and presidents usually intentionally recede from public view dramatically after leaving office. But Trump appears uninterested in following that practice.

The 45th president has amassed a post-presidential war chest of $31m. He has endorsed a former aide in an upcoming gubernatorial election in the shape of his former press secretary Sarah Sanders in Arkansas.

And he has vowed to take revenge on high-profile Republicans who he sees as the chief reason he is out of office – like Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia or the House Republican Conference chairwoman, Liz Cheney, the highest-ranking member of her caucus to vote for impeaching the former president. Some of Trump’s allies are also either keeping roles in the political campaign sphere to maintain Trumpism or beginning the siege on his opponents. Matt Gaetz, the Florida congressman and staunch Trump ally, has already traveled to Wyoming to encourage opposition to Cheney. In Arizona, pro-Trump Republicans censured the former senator Jeff Flake, Governor Doug Ducey and Cindy McCain, the widow of the late senator John McCain.

In Pennsylvania, the state Republican party recently reaffirmed its full support for Trump as well. And above the state parties, the Republican National Committee chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, a Trump ally, was re-elected to her post.

.....

To cement his influence Trump has also not discounted the possibility of running for election again in 2024, forcing other would-be Republican candidates to tread carefully as they plot their own groundwork for the next presidential campaign.

RINO primary season is on. Depose a RINO. Get the satisfaction of knowing that you've deposed a RINO. Free.

"But anti-Trump sentiment within the party is growing as well, albeit slowly,"

i.e., only among RINOs

" especially for a president who left office after one term with underwater approval ratings."

of 51%.

Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach the president, recently set up a political action committee..."

Trump has 31M. How much has Kinzinger raised? Go on. Don't be shy. How much?

LOL.

Meanwhile, demonicRATS are conspiring with Never Trump Republicans are conspiring to remove him from an office he no longer holds.

Not that that is revengeful or anything. Stupid limeys. How did they ever build an empire to begin with?

If the GOP votes to impeach they’re DONE.

I’m still GOP and waiting to see how they decide to defend and represent ME for the next few weeks. So far, I’m not impressed by the GOP leadership - but if they sink Trump to save their own skins in DC - they’re done and they HAVE to know that.

Trump was re-elected. Biden “won” via election fraud.

Addressing this is not revenge.

When I was in eighth grade I was taught how to put together a research paper. The Dominican Nuns taught us. We were not allowed to nor would dream of making it up

This piece would have been very good material for what not to d

Obama’s hobby was treason when he was in cahoots making up stuff to try to overthrow President Trump.

We were taught to not use newspaper articles for research. We had to go to the library and look up the bonafide stuff.

To this day it drives me crazy to read a book and look in the back and most of the foot notes are from newspapers.

Zulus had spears. They had guns. Yet they still managed to get massacred at Mt. Kitzelewayo (sp?).

As empires go, theirs was a pretty beneficent one. They also had the most distinguished rebels, from John Adams to Gandhi to Begin, their rebels were the most august assemblage, and they have always been the most friendly to their former colonists. Don’t knock them.

But their leftist rags are very ragged.

They’re useful for contemporaneous accounts, to show how events were viewed at the time. But for facts? Ha.

I hope our President can do a lot better than $31M. I'd like to see him pick 100 of the 435 congressional districts and seriously back electable conservatives to primary the RINOs or take out weak/aging incumbent democrats in areas that are potential swing districts. The 2022 off-year election should be a time of revolution in the House (if it's not a time of real revolution for the country).

Throw in a few governor's seats, and it could be a beautiful year. And, yes, revenge - plus making America great again - should be the theme. My one issue is that Trump's been getting bad advice on staffing. He needs to go through his contacts, figure out who recommended the many known treasonous backstabbers, and remove them from his trusted advisors. Then do the same search to figure out who has a great track record in picking patriots. We cannot afford another wasted election where the "Tea Party" conservatives who win turn out to be the next generation of RINO insiders.

I know this could all be too late. We may already be destined for an extraordinarily ugly outcome, the other side of Claire Wolfe's awkward stage. However, backup/contingency plans are important.

It’s early and presidents [except for W Bush and Obama] usually intentionally recede from public view dramatically after leaving office. But Trump appears uninterested in following that practice.

Just thought I'd correct this article here.

The best revenge will be Trump’s return to the WH in 2024. Cleansing the party now is preparation for that.

I wrote a book that told a story from the early twentieth century. Most of my endnotes were from newspaper articles. I’m not sure exactly what you’re saying but historical research from certain periods must rely heavily on newspapers.

“...the Republican National Committee chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, a Trump ally, was re-elected to her post.”

How on earth do they imagine that Ronna (Romney) McDaniel is a Trump ally? They must think Mittens Romney is a severe conservative.

Really? Just the other day there was an article about Bill Maher whining that the commies don’t know what Trump is up to because he has gone silent since they forced him out of office.

Blue strongholds such as NY and CA might be ripe for the pickings. Go full court on all 535 Reps and Senators, and you never know what might happen, but also focus on the most likely targets for extra resources. It’s gonna take a whole lot of money and talent and energy.
