After four years in the Trump administration, Vanessa Ambrosini was looking forward to three months of parental leave when she and her husband welcomed a baby a week before Christmas. The Commerce Department’s human resources office had given her approval for it. But then she was surprised to find out the benefit was no longer available because of the change in administration.
“I got completely screwed,” she said in an interview. “There were no caveats in that language saying anything about if the administration turns, you get nothing and of course, that happened and so I got nothing.”
Ambrosini is among a number of ex-Trump political officials who lost their parental leave when Joe Biden was sworn into office. It’s a byproduct of the field they’re in: Their boss (the president) may have been the one let go, but his departure has meant that they, too, lose their jobs and benefits. Still, they argue that the Biden administration should have honored their leave by keeping them on payroll until the end of it — a request that, emails reviewed by POLITICO show, the Biden transition did not grant.
The Biden White House declined to speak about the issue on record...

Just to punish Trump and make the point that whomever works for Trump will be punished to the extent the law allows.
So nice of buying to care about working families right?
If they’re no longer employed there, why should they continue getting paid?
I have a hard time seeing this as an issue to get behind. Anyone accepting a political appointment should be doing so with a temporary mindset and plan and budget accordingly.
Furthermore, receiving 3 months of paid leave for childbirth or adoption on top of any other leave (vacation, sick, personal time off, etc.) is ridiculous. If an employer can get by without you for three months, they don’t need you.
” to the extent the law allows.”
I am pretty sure they don’t stop at the extent of the what the law allows. They are completely lawless.
Totally agree.
Since when did the law make any difference to democrats?
It’s out and out retaliation, is what it is.
Zero reason for someone on parental leave to get a larger severance package than anyone else. Jeesh!
Absolutely true.
Plus, while the Trump and now Biden’s admins have made poor scrubs out in the real world of lockdowns if they can survive on unemployment out of it, that should be good enough for admin insiders too.
Mother should stay home with baby. If you can’t afford it, don’t get pregnant.
No job, no benefits. Elections have consequences.
She was a political appointee for an administration which is no longer in office. Her job is gone, and her benefits with it. Does anyone really think it would have been different for an Obama appointee in 2017?

......................................................
That makes entirely too much sense.
My wife and I had 6 children, (Two of them by adoption) I never expected an extra penny from my employer nor did I get it. As a matter of fact, my bosses expected a free cigar and got it.
It hurt my little feelings so much that I worked there for 32 years, until I retired.
Meanwhile the Dems are pushing cash payments in their Covid bill for couples making up to $300k per year.
Here he is ......dying to get it on. Biden doesnt have wet dreams....he signs E/O's.
He gets a sexual thrill signing E/O's undoing all of Trump's work for we, the people.
Parental (Family) Leave is a load of crap, anyhow. Decide if you’re going to be a parent or a career chick and deal with your choice. Trying to do both gives short shrift to both.
Sooo... If This happened under Obama and Hillary would have won they would have still lost it.
Didn’t think so.
What happened when Trump came in, did the ones on leave then lose theirs as well?
