The National Rifle Association (NRA) teamed with three Virginia residents and filed a lawsuit on Friday, Jan. 29, against Fairfax County for its unconstitutional ban on firearm possession in parks and in areas adjacent to certain events.
“The ban on firearms in parks and on trails in Fairfax County is dangerous and unconstitutional,” said Amy Hunter, spokeswoman, NRA. “While all of us hope that parks are safe and beautiful havens, the reality is that assaults, sexual assaults and other violent crimes can and do occur at parks. Furthermore, parks are some of the few places people can go during the COVID-19 pandemic, and law-abiding people should be able to defend themselves and their loved ones should the need arise. These parks are vast and have isolated locations. Because Fairfax County cannot guarantee individual safety, people should be able to take the necessary precautions.”

It is nice to see the NRA taking some action for the people.
I go places that weapons are prohibited all the time CCW...unless they have a metal detector they can kiss my foot......and other unexposed parts of my body. How you gonna enforce this in an outside venue? Am I missing something?
The problem is if something happens and you get caught. Some jurisdictions treat it as a trespass and it’s no big deal. Others can make a much bigger deal out of it, particularly if you’re in an anti-gun area with rabid anti-gun prosecutors who love making examples out of people. Worse if you’re in a state that finds any excuse possible to slap you with a lifetime firearms ownership ban.
I recommend joining the NRA. It takes funding to sue criminal government.
They get you if you have to defend yourself in said park.
If they find out you are carrying, all theycan do is ask you to leave.
CC
Do like the thugs....shoot and run awaaaaaayyyy!!
If they win, it will void the state law since the areas of prohibited carry are specified there.
“If they find out you are carrying, all they can do is ask you to leave”.
And probably confiscate your gun causing all kinds of grief to get it returned.
