No registration means no knowledge of said guns nor their location. And that means 50 million gun owners will become felons and 50 million doors will need kicking in.

Yeah, but see, what they’ll do is rely on neighbours, family members, etc. to check the database, see that someone hasn’t registered, and then report them, and *then* they’ll get the door kicked in.
We’ve already seen that there are plenty of snitches out there more than willing to “punish” even family members for having the wrong politics. No reason to think they won’t narc on their racist, gun owning uncle who doesn’t believe in transgenderism or whatever.
