One thing to note about the military of Myanmar they are traditionally friendly to China.
Complicated place. I thought there was a *very* long-standing effort by China to create a satellite state there, using ethnic Chinese rebels to stir up trouble... and that in recent times, the Myanmar military generally worked against the Chinese groups because they didn't fancy the idea of handing all that they'd managed to grab over to China.
No wonder the British just sort of walked away from that mess, post-WWII.
The Left took over our institutions here in USA. So our politicians are pandering toward specific blocs of voters. As a result, that’ll be an end to USA.
Missing piece of info: who really controls the military there? Is the military a closed caste, where officers are admitted and promoted by the generals? Or is there a hidden oligarchy which controls things?
Looks like the former. Military promotes from their ranks, the military chief does not report to anybody and cannot be removed.
Burma has actually very large military which acts also like a political party. Similar setup like most military dictatorships.
There is some support for the military among civilians, there is a political party aligned with the military, but the party is controlled by the military, not vice-versa. .
The deal, negotiated by Hillary, basically guarantees military control over Burman forever. Again, Hillary proved to be very substandard negotiator!
Hillary knew the Burmese military ran a huge drug trade.
She, and everyone in the media, knew she was giving the Burmese military effective control.
But, after all, China needed someone they could depend on to run Burma.
The USA went over the cliff in 2008.
