President Biden’s embrace of utter nonsense pushed by the “woke” continued with last week’s executive orders to “advance racial equity” and “root out systemic racism in housing and criminal justice.”
The “equity” approach assumes that any outcome that doesn’t meet inane racial quotas is the result of bias. It is, in fact, systematically racist.
The four executive orders Biden signed Tuesday don’t seem that earth-shattering. He directed the Department of Housing and Urban Development “to take steps necessary to redress racially discriminatory federal housing policies,” told the Justice Department to stop using private prisons, recommitted the feds to honoring tribal sovereignty and vowed to combat “racism, xenophobia and intolerance against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.”
But, as the White House put it, his many “equity” orders set up “a whole-of-government initiative to address racial equity and support underserved communities, and redress systemic racism in federal policies, laws and programs.” He’ll also require “all agencies to take affirmative steps to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.”
Notice that repeated word, “equity.” Liberals used to call (rightly) for equality of opportunity — to have every American treated the same way before the law. “Equity” demands equal outcomes. If some group of Americans is doing better than another, no matter the reason, government must fix it.
Tellingly, Biden in announcing his orders actually corrected his own use of the “wrong” term: “I believe this nation and this government need to change their whole approach to the issue of racial equal — equity.”
Per the White House, Biden is bent on “embedding racial equity across his administration’s response to COVID-19 and the economic crisis.” That extends to de-facto quotas for small-business support — making federal aid depend on skin color.
That’s un-American, but the White House said these steps are “just the start.”

Obama’s “equality” mandates over school discipline were disastrous. I know of a young man (he was counted as Caucasian even though his father was Hispanic) who was put up for expulsion by his school district. His crime? He flipped a teacher off in the hall way between classes because she said something derogatory about him. Why was he put up for expulsion for this you may ask? Because the district had to wait to expel the AA middle schooler who brought a gun on campus until they had a “white” student they could expel. You see, Obama mandated that schools could not expel AA students unless they expelled a white one too. That was how he wanted to address school discipline issues. I can see Joe Burden leading us down a similarly asinine slope.
The US Constitution was ordained to secure the blessings of Liberty.
Liberty and Equality are antonyms.
The left’s war against equality marches on. And of course their replacement “equity” requires massive control over people’s lives from above. With equality everyone will turn out differently as they always have. The only way to achieve “equity” or radical egalitarianism is for the powerful to handicap the successful and artificially lift up the unsuccessful, although usually everyone is just crushed down to the lowest common denominator in practice. No free or prosperous society can survive that sort of government control over everyone and everything. Harrison Bergeron was a great short story on this topic.
Let’s be specific here. Equality before the law is a part of liberty in a free nation. But it always results in true diversity, as people always turn out differently from each other, which is why the new left hates it.
Old-time liberals used to claim to be for equal treatment; neo-Marxist leftists demand that equal treatment be eliminated and that the government and corporations implement radically different rules and laws for different groups of people in an attempt to very unnaturally manufacture equal outcomes for everyone. In the history of mankind no attempt like this has ever come close to working, but the left is more than willing to eliminate the Constitution in their next attempt.
Because they know they are fighting against equal treatment before the law, the leftists are thankfully starting to give up on the idea they are for “equality,” which can be interpreted in too many different ways including the opposite of what they are doing, and pushing the more clearly Marxist and oppressive “equity” instead.
Every corporate board room needs to be at least 50% minority and female starting right now.
