China has warned that attempts by Taiwan to seek independence "means war".
The warning comes days after China stepped up its military activities and flew warplanes near the island.
It also comes after new US President Joe Biden reaffirmed his commitment to Taiwan, and set out his stance in Asia.
The US has called China's latest warning "unfortunate", adding that tensions did not need to lead to "anything like confrontation".
China sees democratic Taiwan as a breakaway province, but Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign state.

He also defended China's recent military activities, saying they were "necessary actions to address the current security situation in the Taiwan Strait and to safeguard national sovereignty and security".

President Trump’s bold move to declare Jerusalem the Capitol of Israel created peace, not war. The reason for this is simple. It cemented the understanding that Israel was, indeed, a valid country deserving the respect of its neighbors, and the sovereignty to choose its own capitol.
Taiwan deserves the same. The reason China feels empowered to claim Taiwan is because of the timidity of other world nations to recognize reality. Be bold, world. Taiwan deserves it, and you will be respected for it, too.
I think we will all still get up and go to work the last day of Biden’s illegitimate administration but, like Obama, the marxists will have done a lot of damage.
Worst of all, they’ve successfully stolen a Presidential election using radical MSM support, 54 marxist judges, hundreds of marxist legislators nationwide, a bribed and intimidated/corrupt Supreme Court, a Republican Party that is 50% corrupt and now, per Patrick Byrne, a horribly corrupt and drunk Rudy Guliani.
All of the preceding paragraph begs the question of how can a Republican Party that is 50% Patriot and 50% corrupt marxist win out over thousands of CCP operatives that are loose in this country and that have unlimited money.
What does win out mean? It means guarantee us an honest election in 2024. That’s really all that matters the next 4 years. Everything else is a non starter because this country right now has no legitimate government. We’re like a ship with no rudder.
Maybe the plan is US China limited war over Taiwan.
It would make it look like they are competing rather than cooperating, fund defense industry on both sides, serve as war games for sharpening military, decimate Taiwan and move industry to China.

Threatening a war isn’t as nuanced as talk of military intervention. It’s blunt, more frightening. It is different too. Military intervention could come in a multitude of ways; not necessarily an out-and-out war between two competing sides and their allies.
