Equity = communism. Everyone but the elites get barely enough to live on.
Equal outcomes for unequal input. Why shouldn’t a low IQ, lazy, high school dropout, unemployed and unemployable, drug addict, felon receive the same results in life as a 140 IQ, highly driven, ambitious, work working, advance degreed, moral and honest person.
I drive a paid for, used car, never wear gold jewelry, do best on <1600kcal/day, never play the state lottery, do the landscaping around the paid for house, read books for entertainment . . .
I’m screwed.
In the long run, “equity”will kill incentive for the high achievers. Those who are willing to work hard, and who have the intellect or other skill set to achieve, will realize that it is pointless to do so. Many will choose simply to sit back and take whatever the government doles out in much the way things were done in the old Soviet Union. If there is little or no reward for hard work, then what is the point. My only hope is that the diploma hanging on my doctor’s wall will disclose whether his or her medical degree is an equitable one.
